I don't feel like I know any of the Inquisition companions well enough yet to really love them, so here's my picks from Origins, Awakening, and DA2.  I'm sure this list will change once I play Inquisition because I'm really excited about the potential of almost all of the DAI crew.

I really never cared for alistair, loghain, justice, or fenris

 

Isabella was too fragile, zevran couldnt pick a lock to save his life, Sebastian was too damn goody goody, sigrun was ok but i prefer varric

 

Wynne is old and annoying, Anders was great in awakening but ruined in da2, velanna was a little too crazy for my tastes

Warriors- Alistar just because

Shale for irony

Cassandra because it would be fun to see her in that kind of setting

Rogues

Zevran because I find I'm drawn to him as a li the most.

Isabela and Varric would be fun to have around, Also the mental image of Varric swimming I find hilarious for some reason.

Sigrun because we all need more female dwarfs.

Mages

Merill because magic and stuff

Dorian because I want him

Solas because I want him

Dog             No one could ask for a more loyal and reliable companion

Alistair         My DAO didn't end well for him and I'd like to see him climb out his DA2 state

Cassandra  Because I liked her in DA2 and I liked her movie

 

Rogue

Varric           After DA2 not having Varric around is unthinkable

Sera             Of all the DAI companions she sounds the most fun

Nathaniel      A bit like Alistair, I'd like to see him restore his family name to mean something good

 

Mage

Bethany       Warden version because she's still the cute little sister but has a more hard edge to her when needed

Velanna       Now I know this is not a popular decision but I wanted to romance her, and she as feisty and in your face as any companion

Solas           I'm going to need to know how to close those rifts to win.
