welcome Sokiru, you made a good decision, the Dragonage series is rich in both gameplay and story, i hope you all the dlc for origins and dragonage 2 it would be a good way to get into the series and be ready for the inquisition, and in a week or so Dragonage Keep will be out and you can prepare your world states for Inquisition.

Thanks! Hopefully I made a good decision... Can you explain what Dragon Age Keep is? I was confused about that when I saw it.

I heard it was a huge let down but from a few videos it doesn't look that bad aside from the story, haha. I usually like hack and slash more tbh.

Basically the Keep is what Bioware will be using instead of save files to transfer your choices into DA: I. They just found that the save files were too problematic. It's going to be browser based. You log in using your Origins account then you pick the different choices you want for your world save and send it to DA: I.
Hope I helped. I'm not sure if it was clear enough lol.

Yeah. Bioware's also using the Keep as an experiment, to see if it's a viable way of exporting choices in their other franchises. Or, at least that's what I've heard.
And welcome to Dragon Age!

To be completely honest, DA 2 wasn't a disappointment for me. There are the obvious problems where every cave is the same and one point at the end you're like "wait, seriously? God, you're an idiot" DA 2 is more of a character drama as opposed to the epic fantasy tale of Origins. It focuses more on Hawke and her companions and their reactions and lives instead of trying to save the world. I found it great but obviously I'm in the minority.

There is no health regeneration, limited amount of potions, and I'm not 100% sure but there might not be any healing spells either (but I've been told otherwise). My suggestion is to just read all the different threads that interest you. You'll be caught up in no time.

Absolutely.
And don't get too bogged down by some of the negativity you see on some of the threads. Bioware's making a lot of changes to the formula for Inquisition, so there's obviously going to be some groaning and fear, along with a few growing pains I still predict that the game is going to be great, or at least very good.
As for healing, they've added a set of new skills for Inquisition called "Focus Skills" that you have to build up power to use. Basically, you get more Focus by attacking enemies alongside your team. One focus skill that the Inquisitor can use is a mass healing technique. Otherwise, mages have a revive spell, and one specialty class for Rogues has a way to reset health, given a little planning ahead. I think Warriors also have a technique they can use to heal themselves.
Mostly, Inquisition focuses more on mitigating or preventing damage, rather than healing it. And it's a lot easier to do that now, than it was in previous games.

DA2 was what brought me to the series, actually. Other than the fact that it was very obviously rushed (through no fault of the devs, who were given next to no time to make it), I love it. If you can manage to play it before DAI comes out, I highly recommend it.

I was pretty down on the multiplayer for Inquisition..... I expected it to be way better... like custom character and being able to customize it, etc.

There are stickied threads containing collected information regarding what is currently known about DAI as well as links to gameplay videos. Depending on whether you want to avoid spoilers or not, caution may be needed when reading those threads.

The Dragon Age wiki and TVTropes page are full of juicy information, though obviously you'll want to tread carefully if you're trying to avoid spoilers!

Yeah...I'm actually kind of still puzzled by that. I mean, when I heard they were doing a multiplayer mode, I thought it would allow players to be a little more varied in their character customization. I mean, I wasn't really planning on joining in, but a part of me was still let down. As far as I know, you don't even get to give the characters names; they even come with preset backgrounds, I think. But c'est la vie, that's just how it is.

These are good sources too, especially the wiki if you want a lot of background info and canon explanations for certain events or subjects. Just beware because, well, aforementioned spoilers, but the wiki also serves as kind of a roundabout player's guide. You can generally avoid the guide-ish parts, however if you don't click on/search for the names of any of the missions, or look into character approval. Just another warning.

Welcome to the DA games and forum Taikiru! ![]()
If you do decide to do some digging and hear about the world sounding different to how you played that's Bioware's cannon. Your game takes precedence (mostly) so if you did things differently and decide to set up your world (through the keep) by the decisions you made in game that's the story that will carry forward. Hope that's not too confusing... ![]()
On DA2 if you're going in knowing that it's rushed and very different to origins you should be fine. I was initially disappointed but replayed again after I'd gotten over that and actually enjoyed it for the most part so hopefully as you like hack 'n' slash you'll find it a lot of fun. It's also a good chance to meet Varric and Cassandra before DAI. ![]()
