Welcome to the DA games and forum Taikiru!  :D

If you do decide to do some digging and hear about the world sounding different to how you played that's Bioware's cannon. Your game takes precedence (mostly) so if you did things differently and decide to set up your world (through the keep) by the decisions you made in game that's the story that will carry forward. Hope that's not too confusing...

On DA2 if you're going in knowing that it's rushed and very different to origins you should be fine. I was initially disappointed but replayed again after I'd gotten over that and actually enjoyed it for the most part so hopefully as you like hack 'n' slash you'll find it a lot of fun. It's also a good chance to meet Varric and Cassandra before DAI.  :)

Ohhhhh... I see. Its not confusing at all, thanks for the help! What do you mean by "Its also a good chance to meet Varric and Cassandra before DAI"? I did also hear Dragon Age 2 was pretty bad. But from the videos i looked, it's really not that bad. :P

I wish I was a peep. Then I'd be delicious. But then I'd also be a cannibal. Maybe I don't wish I was a peep.

DA2 has it's faults, but I personally really liked the game.  The characters are memorable and I enjoyed the friendships and romances with them.  Thanks to that game, Varric has hit my #1 favorite BioWare character, and I've been playing their games since 1999.

Cassandra is a plot important NPC in DA2.  Varric is a party member in the same game, so that's what Tayah was getting at.

Welcome to Dragon Age.

I'd like to echo the positive stuff being said about DA2, I actually prefer it to Origins so I'd say jump in and make up your own mind, everyone enjoys different things about a game and DA2 is not expensive to pick up these days.

Welcome to Dragon Age and the Bioware Forums a lot of really cool and informative people here as well as really cool Mods.

I loved DA2 it was disappointing in some aspects repeating area's but in my mind how much does a city really change, my home town hasn't changed much in the last 50 years except some new business here an there, so Kirkwall not really changing wasn't that much of an issue just the surrounding area's every dungeon was a rinse an repeat area with some area's blocked off or newly opened.

An the Rogue's ability to disable traps that was a major step back from DA:O at least for me it was and definitely was rushed.

But aside from that I enjoyed the story and the Party Banter between Isabella and Avelline were some of the most memorable moments as well as Isabella and Merrill, hehe.

I think the fact it was very rushed and that it is very different to Origins is the main reasons you'll hear that it's bad and for me there were times when I could see what it was trying to be and the potential especially of the characters and I wished they'd been able to have more time to expand on the game but having said that if you don't go in expecting Origins and knowing it was rushed it's actually pretty fun... especially the character banters. I'd literally stop when they started talking to catch the whole thing because most of them were brilliant... even with characters I didn't like as much they were still interesting.  :D

As others have said different things appeal to different people so I'd suggest you try it and see if you like it, hopefully you do.  :)

Yeah what Nat said is what I meant. They're both in DA2 and it might give you an idea of their dynamic and leave you wondering how things go from there to DAI between them... kinda like the rest of us really. ;)

Don't worry too much about the keep right now, just concentrate on playing through Origins and 2 :)

Hello! Welcome welcome welcome! I love the Dragon Age series. DA:O is my favorite. I like DA2 for the story line, there are a few bits that are dissappointing, but the storyline is still pretty good. :) Best way to get the background and the information you want about this richly filled world is to play the games, i think. My world is a bit different than Bioware's cannon, :P just like everyone else's world is. I think Dragon age origins is still free on the Origin Client, if you've yet to get that game, check it out! :) There are few novels to read too if you like the idea. The forums are filled with stuff. Just be wary of Spoilers! Glad to have you with us!

Hi! Welcome to Dragon Age!

Basically the Keep is what Bioware will be using instead of save files to transfer your choices into DA: I. They just found that the save files were too problematic. It's going to be browser based. You log in using your Origins account then you pick the different choices you want for your world save and send it to DA: I.

Hope I helped. I'm not sure if it was clear enough lol.

What I am worried about is the small things. I can't stop comparing this to the Mass Effect Genesis DLC which had the bigger choices that directly affected the story but nothing else, none off the side quests etc. Is the Keep going to have all (and I mean all) of the choices that happened during both previous games or just the larger, more noticeable ones. Besides that, I do think it is a good way for creating the story you want instead off going all the way back to the first game which I did several times with Mass Effect (which annoyed me).

As for healing, they've added a set of new skills for Inquisition called "Focus Skills" that you have to build up power to use.  Basically, you get more Focus by attacking enemies alongside your team.  One focus skill that the Inquisitor can use is a mass healing technique.  Otherwise, mages have a revive spell, and one specialty class for Rogues has a way to reset health, given a little planning ahead.  I think Warriors also have a technique they can use to heal themselves.

So sort off how it works in Guild Wars 2?

Talkiru if you didn't play Dragon Age Origins I suggest run like hell and buy it.

It's worth every penny and more.DA2 does suck a s s.It's hack and slash with no choice and no story.

But hey everyone likes something different.I love DAO.

Welcome to the form.

DAO is a good game. When finished, try DA2, it has its ups and downs.

Just out of curiousity, have you played the ME games? If not, you might enjoy playing them as well.

actually, DA2 has three main stories you could say, and does something new: Tell the story of a main hero not within a couple of weeks, but years. DA2 really isn't as bad storywise as people make it, just because Hawke is not their warden. And I rather have no choices than ... well... choices and a space-child laughing at me in the end, for example. Just sayin'

So DAO is superior, OP, you probably know that by now. But in preperation to DAI? Well, I consider DA2 to be a must-play, even if only to judge for yourself whether it deserves the hatred it gets, or if its unjustified. Would be cool to read your opinion in a couple of weeks about it

Right now on Origins: Dragon Age Origins is on the house you can get it free while it's available if you don't own it or you own the Cd version of it always good to have a backup copy.

Welcome to the forums! (Distant multitudes chanting of "one of us" heard in the background) glad you decided to join us :) . I'm sure it's been offered before, but if you've got questions (especially lore and characters) just shoot a PM my way.

I have no games in ME series. I wasn't intrested in the series at all. It looked like a pretty fun game but wasn't my style of a game. I am loving DAO right now. Thanks to Origin on the house, I feel in love with Dragon Age and did a little research. Saw DAI and immediately pre-orded it.... I've heard so many good news about it to. Just not the multiplayer, was pretty down on that part also. But hey, hopefully the story will be good. Thanks again guys for the welcomes! Hehehehe.
