I'm Re-playing the dragon age to get the feels for dragon age Inquisition. I was wondering if it was a bad choice to become king-consort in dao? In dragon age orgins is that a bad choice or a good choice? I always feel guilty for taking away the throne from Alistair... what are your opinions?
Bad Choice?

He doesn't want it and if you allow him to kill Loghain I don't think he cares that you stepped up. Now if you spare the one person he wants dead the most he doesn't take that well and I could see how some would consider that a bad choice. You know you could avoid it completely and roll a female HN and marry Alistair then both win!

You can't take away something he has never had.

I played it like a fellow comrade-in-arms. After Ostagar how I could be disloyal? In battle the only one you can trust are the people fighting beside you and Alistair was a good friend. In Awakening your companions are constantly bickering. It's both hilarious but bad for team unity. Still I was too soft on him. Should have criticized him more before the Landsmeet.

The simple folk love him, & the old guard accept him as Maric's son.
He's happy to smile and wave.
The PC is much smarter than Alistair or Anora & potentially a much better ruler.
The ruling nobility would both respect & or fear the PC.
If she was an elf, this means she could implement real change for her people by becoming Chancellor & ruling Ferelden herself.
With Alistairs blessing.
With Leliana at her side, who's knowledge of Orlesian politics & nobility could prove a boon.
Although, Leliana prefers the violent solution, sometimes.
