I don't see how the recoloring of armor is done, but someone said Cameron said it was possible to make everyones armor pink.
I think Mike said they weren't able to implement it in the game but it was something they wanted to do at the beginning but now color changes because of different material i believe.

Well i think you can still do that if you have all the same material. because in the Crafting Trailer you see the different materials changing the color of the clothes.
