I found the Chantry position on you (or at least for elven and likely other Inquisitors) unsurprising but interesting. I'm looking forward to who that plays out, and it fits neatly into my prior comments about people claiming or being assigned great spiritual value in a tradition are often antagonistic to or rejected by the dominant structures of said tradition.

I'm unsure how Karaas Adaar is going to to approach it. Possibly bemusement.

I guess it's only natural that some people won't (*cough* Cassandra), but I hope denying it will at least reduce the number of people who call me that.

The title was created by rumors. Telling four people in a room that you don't like it isn't going to make the rumors stop from spreading, it's already too late for that. I guess you can be rude to everyone that call you that and lives the consequences.

True enough, but after watching the video I found jarring that just after the Inquisitor has told Cullen that she isn't  "herald of anything, particularly not Andraste", Cassandra ends the conversation by saying "I won't leave this all to the Herald". I understand that it's impossible to make the masses forget that title, but not even your close advisors and companions will make the effort?

But I like that Bioware provides the chance to express the character's feelings about that (and other things too). Good roleplaying is what I'm looking forward to in DA:I. However, that also means that it could cause situations in-universe not intended out-universe.

For example, if I was playing that way in that scene, Cullen earned points for that specific Inquisitor by asking her what she thought, while Cassandra lost them by ignoring her feelings on the matter right away (no matter if the authors' intention was to paint Cassandra's character that way or not). Since it works in-universe, I won't complain.  That's part of the beauty of RPG games.

I think you missed the "Cassandra disapprove" after that conversation. She very much wants the "Herald of Andraste" title to stick regardless if you like it or not. The entire exchange made me think that she was the one who started the rumor too.

I wonder if its because she thinks we can use it to our advantage or because she really believes it.

Being a pragmatic opportunist doesn't mean you can't believe. So hard to say if it's "advantage", "belief" or "both" with what we saw.

I must be blind, because not only did I miss it, but now I'm trying to look for it and still can't find it. Cassandra ends mentioning the herald and then there's the war table. Maybe it's the visualization? Maybe the video player is covering the part where it appears? Can you give me a clue? Maybe the quote that happens just before or just after the "Cassandra disapproves" indication?

There's no visible game mechanic, unless I missed it too. You can just read from her reaction that she thinks that spreading the "Herald of Andraste" idea is a good plan.

At the end of the first video, when you come out of the war table, on the left of the screen there's a few codex entries unlocked and above them it says that Cassandra disapproves.

Thank you both! Ok, if it was intended, I have even less reasons to worry. After all, Bioware doesn't want every character to be BFF with the protagonist.

I understand peoples problem with the Chantry and Maker but why do people have a problem with a woman who freed thousands of slaves freed hundreds of miles of land. laid the seeds for 3 great nations. gave the Elves a place to call home. And wanted to unite the world in peace.

How can you dislike her for people who are unrelated to her hundreds of years after she is dead and misusing her words as reason to call Exalted marches and sometimes forcibly convert.

Am i to blame if my Great, Great, Great, Great descendant misuses my words so he can kill his neighbor?

I'm sorry i just don't see why some people get such a vile feeling when being the Herald of a great woman. and i don't mean because of her religion. but plainly because she was a great person in history.

this isn't directed at anyone in particular i just have seen many post in many threads saying they completely hate the Herald of Andraste title.

Same reason why people blames Jesus for Nazis... they are... let's say not so smart so none feels ofended and cry with a moderator

Because she did all that for her god husband. There are some people who don't want to bend their to some god that abandoned humanity or be associated to someone who bend their knee to a god they may not believe in.

They've said in the final game we won't be seeing any approval or disapproval, it will just happen behind the scenes.. so this is sorta a nice shortcut into seeing how Cass will react to this particular thing even though we're not really supposed to know until we make the decision. :P

What they said is that we won't see an Approval Bar, I'm pretty sure they said we'll still get notifications

The main plot of DAI should be you running around and trying to convince people to stop using the title of "Herald of Andraste".

Cullen's job will be then to bully them, Leliana to assassinate and Josephine to blackmail.

"Convince them or bear with it"

It is, yes. I believe it was said that we could stop the whole "Herald of Andraste" stuff pretty early on.

That's what they implied, but based off of the most recent Twitch, I'm not sure if it 's the case... Sure, you can say you don't like the title, but literally five seconds later Cassandra calls you "the Herald"... :/

To be honest i find any non-human inquisitor to be a bit forced as the leader of the inquisition, which is an human organization (look at your advisors and your soldiers). Some adjustments were made in the plot since bioware announced the multiple races, but i remain unconvinced, i find the whole thing more believable (including the herald of andraste stuff) if you play as a human.

I am not saying that people cannot play as anything else, just stating my opinion that DAI story seems heavily focused on human stuff, and the other races feel rather tacked on for my tastes. I think DAO was better done in that regard because the wardens were established from the beginning to be multi-raced, even back then, some races felt better introduced than others (ex. lack of difference playing human vs elf).

I want to emphatise that this is my opinion, feel free to ignore it and enjoy your qunari herald of andraste. I however find it too unbelievable (like a hawke mage in DA2 who continually gets free pass as an apostate), so i would rather pick something that does not break my suspension of disbelief.

That seems more to be because Cassandra wants you to be the Herald.

Isn't a bit too early to say that it is too heavily focused on human stuff?

I think the player character is made the Inquisitor because of their ability to close rifts, more than anything else. That isn't taken away if they aren't human.

My human and non human pc's will take advantage of the title whilst ridiculing it but I think I'll have more fun playing as a non human dealing with it because according to Josephine a Dalish Inquisitor Herald "frightens the Chantry."

Thank you, I think I will.

In retrospect, I'll end up acting like Graham Chapman in Life of Brian.
