If she looked like she did in da2 i would have said cassandra. Unfortunately she now looks like a man, so I may go romance free, not a fan of any of the hetero female choices.

I still can't understand how anyone can prefer...

I know people have different tastes and usually I can at least comprehend why someone would like a particular look more than another, but in this case I'm really drawing a blank, so I'm actually kinda curious. Not to mention that the whole "Cassandra looks like a man" objection is complete and utter BS, anyway.

#1 Cullen (female Elf Mage)

#2 Blackwall (female Human Rogue)

#3 Iron Bull (either my female Qunari Mage or female Dwarf Warrior)

#4 Solas (female Elf Rogue)

#5 Cassandra (male Qunari Mage)

After that, I will romance the others but in no particular order.

Everyone with Cassandra. Female Inquisitors will have broken hearts, but c'est là vie.

I might take a look at Blackwall (unless he's too much like my dad) and Josie too.

Oh, now I have an image of Cullen chaining the Inquisitor to his bedpost (if his bed has posts that is).

Hey, that's the term the devs used. :P

It's the reason you can't lead everybody on and have love dodecahedrons.

You understand that people have different tastes but you can't comprehend how someone could have different tastes regarding Cassandra? Sounds like a bias issue.

It's the hard-edged, angular features, the facial scar, the messy helmet hair. All of those were less prominent in DA2. Her design artist said it in her blog, she is re-designed her to give an impression of violence and hardness. Does that sound like something every guy ever should think is hot? Even guys who want the exact opposite of hardness and violence?

Personally, I dislike her for reasons other than her looks. But I still think it's funny how knee-jerk defensive her fans are getting about it.

Oddly enough that comparison makes her look more like a guy than I imagined before.  A very beat up guy.  She could pass for female, but IMO she could not pass for attractive.

My post was in no way defensive or condescending, I was/am actually curious. All of your points are in some way comprehensible, with the exception of "helmet hair" because that looks vastly different, and I can respect that. What I can't respect is all that "She looks like a man" rubbish, but other than that, to each their own.

I guess I just have trouble understanding how any DA 2 character could possibly pass as attractive, as they look way too cartoonish and doll-like for my tastes.

I totally agree with that.  DA2's art style is one of the things I hate about that game.

EDIT:  Love anime though...

Nah, thanks. I really don't feel like opening Pandora's Box, for the time being. (;

That particular topic might blow this thread out of proportion.

She looks suprisingly similar, DA2 just looks less realistic and detailed than DAI's look. She has wider jaw but otherwise she looks like same person.

Only thing I dislike in her DAI look is the odd braid around her hair. Otherwise she looks amazing :)

Wise. The point is that realism has never been much of a factor in what most people find attractive.

For my first playthrough?

Not a clue.

The character I make will let me know who she wants/who she is as I play.

All I know is I was thinking of female elf rogue, but now I'm leaning female dwarf.

After that, I'll be making characters that will fit/conflict with chosen companions.

First Sera

Then Iron Bull

Then Cassandra

Then Josephine

Then Cullen

Then Blackwall

Unsure about Dorian and Solas yet, it depends on how I like them as characters at that point.

Cassandra is one of the most beautiful characters bioware have ever created. She might not be your cup of tea but try not to be insulting about it.

I like how you started a sentence telling people not to state their opinion as fact by stating your opinion as fact. That was funny.

My first run is going to be a Female Qunari Mage. First Romance will either be Sera or Josephine, not sure which.

Josephine, I like the contrast between the two. An Antivan Noble trained from birth in the arts of politics and economics, never trained in combat, raised to meet her country's standards of womanhood. In a serious relationship with an Ox-woman, a common sell-sword who's understanding of economics before the blast was likely limited to who paid her.Total opposites when it comes to backgrounds.

Sera...One thing I'm imagining is that the Qunari Inqusitior has to restrain themselves somewhat, not as much as Qunari who actually follow the Qun but between being a mage and general Qunari rage issues I imagine she practices a bit of restraint. Sera's hard drinking, generally care free attitude is something she's often wanted but never thought they could have. Also Sera is an elf who is not culturally elven, and the Qunari Inqusitior is probably not culturally Qunari, not a big deal but it's an interesting similarity IMHO. On a less serious side I'm kinda curious how the game deals with what must be a rather big size difference.

I'm torn between female Human Warrior (a shamelessly bigoted Templar) romancing Cullen or female Dwarf Rogue (merciless badass with no time for bullshit) romancing Blackwall. Then there's the whole Qunari Mage with Bull and Dalish Mage with Solas for later runthroughs.

I find this thread abit disturbing. Not sure if my feeling towards this is abit off so let me explain.

People talk about who they are planning to romance - this before learning enough of the characters and their personality. Meaning they are taking for granted that the companion they wish to romance is interested in them.

Example:

Lets say player A roleplays with behavior X, intended on romancing Cassandra. But behavior X is not someone Cassandra likes? See the problem here?

Player A ends up changing behavior to make Cassandra fall in love with him. This is pretty much sociopathic behaviour. You are then manipulating, deceiving and "playing" Cassandra into loving you. "Who will you romance" seem to take for granted that the character is interested in you, dehumanizing them to an object to be obtained.

You cant PLAN to romance anyone, from a roleplaying perspective this has to happen naturally. There is no obligation for a companion to even like you, much less fall in love with you. I find the standpoint "Not sure who to pick" kinda frightening really.

Maybe I misunderstood something in this thread, dunno. Feel free to enlighten me :P

In no particular order:

'Stache because of 'stache, secondarily because Tevinter mage x Qunari would upset lots of Thedosians, and is therefore entertaining. Also, he just seems like fun.

Tightpants McFadeElf because I think he's up to something shady, and shady stuff makes for a nice tense romance arc. Also, he has an excellent butt.

Giggles because I've fallen madly in love with her accent. I want her to follow me around and narrate everything that occurs.

Ruffles due to her impresive knowledge of politics and ability to play all the pieces against each other. She's so soft-spoken and gentle, but she's got a mind for some insane levels of political schemes.

Stabssandra Stabaghast purely on looks, though she does seem quite down-to-earth when she's not interrogating someone.

You know she's not real right? ... Right?  I'm insulting who exactly?  An imaginary character?  Besides I said it was my opinion so just get over yourself.  Sorry not all opinions match yours.

None of the male romance options available to a female Inquisitor :(.  Hopefully I will be proven wrong when I get the game, but right now I am worried.  They look even less appealing than the DA2 romance options.

(1) Blackwell's art and character are not appealing to me at all.   He is certainly not designed to be "attractive" either physically or (more importantly) in terms of personality, which can make him a cool character, but probably not a good romance option, at least to me.   At least he's not emo like all the options in DA2, so hopefully he'll make a good companion.

(2) Iron Bull?  Really?  Yeah no.  Not likely anyway.  Unless he is a completely un-qunari qunari, their sexist attitudes mean I will probably not even want him as a companion.

(3) Cullen.  Maybe?  But I haven't forgiven him for being a git in previous DAs, and if you romance someone who isn't one of your companions, that means you'll miss all the awesome bridge-crossing chit chat with your romance, so blah.

I'm looking forward to the game, but this is the bit I worry the most about.
