Blackwell actually reminds me a lot of Duncan, whose character I respected and admired a lot ... but never wanted to romance.

I would have happily romanced Duncan or Blackwall had they been available to me.
And I think that a character's looks and personality are important in deciding who I want to romance.

You're talking about real life right? Just want to make sure because in games it's all about the achievements. ![]()
Seriously though, if someone ask me now who I would want to romance in DA:I I really don't have a lot to go on other than their looks and class. It's like being back in college and your friends are looking at the latest Sports Illustrated mag and asking who you'd like to bang. Well I certainly didn't Google which one likes puppies before answering.

I find this thread abit disturbing. Not sure if my feeling towards this is abit off so let me explain.
People talk about who they are planning to romance - this before learning enough of the characters and their personality. Meaning they are taking for granted that the companion they wish to romance is interested in them.
I'm going to roleplay a character that will have Cassandra fall in love with them, otherwise I'm just going to role-play a character that is in love with Cassandra but can't have her.
I don't see the problem personally.

Five Fingered Mary most likely.

Well, we can all just do a hell of a lot playthroughs to do every romance available and after that we can still decide which we like best. And play that one another 83.243 times. ![]()

Cassandra. Sera and Josephine as well.

Josephine, probably. Then... whatever.

So you are basing your entire role-playing / gaming experience with the foundation built on the need for one specific companion to fall in love with you?
Edit: Just wanted to clarify that I find it curious that's all ![]()

These are my first two preferred romances as well, though I'm planning on Dorian first, assuming he and my Inquisitor get along. These are the two David Gaider penned romances, so based on my experience in DAO and DA2, they'll be my favorites. Zevran and Fenris were both written by DG, so I'm confident that one of these romances (or both) will make me a very happy player.
I plan to get to the remaining romances eventually (Blackwall and Iron Bull both appeal and will likely be the next two I try for), but I'm most looking forward to Dorian and Cass, for sure.

Anything with a penis pretty much. Preferably all at the same time but I doubt BioWare will allow that D:

No.
I'm not going to change my character behavior to have a companion fall in love with it especially, but it doesn't mean I'm going to go for the romance options open for said characters.
I just know that Cassandra is going to fall in love with my goody-two-shoes sarcastic mage. There is like a precedent. ![]()

I still can't understand how anyone can prefer...
that:
to this:
I know people have different tastes and usually I can at least comprehend why someone would like a particular look more than another, but in this case I'm really drawing a blank, so I'm actually kinda curious. Not to mention that the whole "Cassandra looks like a man" objection is complete and utter BS, anyway.
Mmm, that's one pretty man. I'd romance him! (Seriously, if Cassandra had a brother...)
As for whom I'll actually romance, my brain keeps having this SOLAS! CULLEN! SOLAS! CULLEN! shouting match that has been going on for a while that I don't see ending until I actually see them in their natural habitats.
After them... I don't know. I really kinda want to do everyone. I particularly love Iron Bull and intend to flirt with him if he's as charming as I expect considering who voiced him. I hope the pre-decision conflicts are fun. And honestly, I'd love to be carried away... more so if there were no race gates, though I understand they're important.
But man, if Bann Teagan showed up and was cute again like in the first game... O_O
I just realized this game could break my sanity completely.

In order that I plan to romance them.
Iron Bull
Blackwall (that could be switched since I'm not sure who to go with first)
Dorian
Josephine
Sera
I currently have no plans to romance Solas, Cassandra, or Cullen.

Oddly enough that comparison makes her look more like a guy than I imagined before. A very beat up guy. She could pass for female, but IMO she could not pass for attractive.
If this is what guys look like where you live then I think it might be time for me to move and change my sexuality.

I'll sleep with Bull and Dorian, but I've never done committed relationships in DA games.

For my main playthrough, assuming that there aren't any romance arcs outside of companions and advisers I'll go with Josephine. I'm going to flirt with anyone though. It's consistent with the concept of my character.

For me, one save slot per race
Male human mage - Dorian
Female warrior dwarf - Sera
Female rogue elf - Solas
Qunari - Iron Bull
Saving the rest for later

I actually usually play women in BioWare games (have done since BG1, ah, those were the days), but the fact that both of the romances I was primarily interested in are for men only has made me decide to roll as a guy for a change (hopefully I can make him smokin' hot). I'm basing this on their personalities, appearances, and—like you—the fact they're penned by DG and based on experience the DG romances in DA games have always been my favourite (again, like you, Zevran in DA:O and Fenris in DA2).
If I relent at the last minute and play a woman again, then I'll still have both of these gorgeous specimens of humanity in my core party.

Lady Qunari Necromancer - Iron Bull
The following plans (vague idea's really) are subject to change, except for MERxDorian.
Female Dwarf Rogue - Blackwall
Female Elf Rogue or Male Elf Rogue - Solas or Dorian (I was pretty set on my first four pt's being the female from each race, but... Dorian. am seriously tempted to bump him up to second)
Female Human Mage - Cullen
Solas or Dorian
Male Human Mage - Cassandra
Female Qunari Warrior (don't normally play warriors, so we'll see about this) - Sera
Male Human Warrior - Josephine
Then IB again with Male Dwarf Rogue (with a bow!) ... I have to see how the height difference works.

We're similar in some ways and different in others - pretty cool ![]()
I tend to play more male characters, though I've played both men and women in DAO and DA2 in order to see the differences between the genders. I was heavily swayed in DA2 towards male!Hawke because I have an admitted voice-kink and Nicholas Boulton has been giving me good vibrations ever since the first time I talked to Ser Bryant in Lothering
The new CC will (hopefully) make it easy to create a smokin' hot Inquisitor. Even with the limited modding available for the DA2 CC, I was able to make several Hawkes that I wouldn't kick out for eating crackers in bed, as the saying goes. I've put a pic of one of my favorites (looks-wise) under the cut.
