I was totally 100% ok with it.
Then I saw this:

I WILL NOT BE DENIED!!

Alistair 2.0, except there is likely not going to be a mod to change Cullen.I was totally 100% ok with it.

Female gamers who play DA series are really lucky since they always have the equal or more options than other groups. He's unreasonably attractive...
He's unreasonably attractive...
Eh, he looks like a fairly generic pretty boy. Please don't take any offense, Cullen fans.
I'm not dismissing him as a potential LI down the road (although there's no way I can picture my dwarf inquisitor with him at all) but that makes him seem less interesting to me. It's gonna take his personality really shining through that would make me consider him attractive. I felt the same way about Alistair at first, so my mind could easily change. My dwarf in DA:O didn't go for Alistair for similar reasons why my Lady Cadash won't. However, Alistair became my favorite DA:O romance for all of my non-dwarves.
I'm looking forward to getting to know him better, so there's probably where any attraction from me is going to lie. Otherwise, I can open up a lot of magazine ads and see guys that look just like him in the real world every day.

Sigh, it's not fair, is it? Big gay white knight, I'm waiting for you....
*taps foot impatiently*

That's why you're going for Dorian, right? RIGHT?!?!?!

For my second character, oh hell yes. For his LI, I'm trying for a gay warrior designed as closely as I can to Auron in FFX.
Dorian doesn't look like a typical pretty boy. He reminds me more of the Golden Age of Hollywood film actors. Tall, dark and handsome....yeah, that's my one of my primary types alright.
It's my first character where I'm not certain, but that makes me even more interested in getting to know the crew.

Yes.....another one falls for the stache.... ![]()
So your first playthrough, you are gonna let it fall where it may? Male or female PC?

Oh, he's super generic in his look. But I happen to like generic pretty boys.
Yup. I like all the boys. ![]()
Yeah, Dorian certainly has that old timey movie star thing going on. Reminds me of Errol Flynn.

Lady Chrys Cadash, archer and former Carta member, reporting in!

Errrrg, yeah he does. I may or may not have had a crush on Mr. Flynn since childhood. ![]()

Hmmmm, I see her as a Ride the Bull kind of gal, but she could just as easily scale the Wall, I suppose.
I have never played a gay or bi male character before. Not that I had anything against it, but it didn't seem all that interesting to me.
Then, Dorian starts to be revealed. Now, his romance is a big lure for me to try a M/M pairing, no doubt. However, even from when his first snippets were revealed, I instantly liked him. I wanted to experience not just the romance, but the possible chemistry and friendship between him and a male PC of mine. The friendship can be just as good in a romance as the romance content itself. This is a character that has finally motivated me to try a completely new PC. I rarely play warriors too, and I picture a wonderful battle team with him and Dorian.

IB is a possibility, but it depends upon how much of the "horny pansexual" stereotype use in the game. An overdose of that would turn me off of the character, sexy voice or not.
With Blackwall, I'm leery. A Warden nearing his Calling? I'm not going to dismiss it, just like everyone else, but he's actually very unlikely. I don't like to cry over my LIs in games.

Hmmmm, so Sera or Josie then for Round 1?

Agreed that friendship content can be just as good (if not better) than the romance content. A guyShep's bromance with Garrus is stil probably my favourite relationship from any Bioware game.
I think me Dorian, Blackwall and (maybe) Varric are gonna be best buds. My Quizzy, Blackwall and Dorian will have long, in depth discussions about grooming facial hair, and will tease Mr Tethras due to his lack of it.
He is also going to #TapDatCass.
I think i have to disagree about the limitations. I have played the dragon age origin sooo many times that i have lost count and guess i am playing it again now. This time heavily modded as i already know the story and i want to end it fast. To get to the point i again made a female human mage and i had the polygamy mod as i wanted to romance everyone at once, only Leliana turned down my player for shake of my love with Alistair. (Now everyone will think that my player is an easy, "free" woman but what can i say she wants to entertain and please everyone
). But the very first time i played she ended up heart broken by the King Alistair. Later i became an expert and knew how to manipulate them and get what i want.
In Da2 whether i made a male or female mage I ended up with Anders, because he was the main character with the most depth in character. Or Isabella she was crazy and a pirate with experience ![]()
I think options are the best thing in a game. This is the very first time i am conflicted whether to make a male or female mage. I want to romance Cassandra as she is a hottie or Cullen as he has been elusive to the charms of my previous females mages.
Hmmmm, so Sera or Josie then for Round 1?

See, this is why I'm not having my heart set on anyone. Sera is a wonderful gal thus far and I do adore her. However, even though I'm the OP of her fan thread, I am not interested in a romance with her upon first impression. My first impression is that she seems fairly immature, and that she doesn't like the "greater good." I tend to play characters that are mostly about the greater good, so it will depend upon how we get along.
Josie is someone that I could very well like. Though she seems like a different person, she reminds me a bit of Samantha Traynor from ME3 in a very good way. Still, upon first impression, she doesn't really stand out to me. She seems classy, brilliant and gorgeous, but doesn't really trip my trigger.
This is why I keep saying that I'm at a point where I really need to get to know my party members first. Plus, oddly enough, I keep picturing my first character as straight. Don't know why, but it's...I don't know...felt that way I guess since I started imagining her? I can't explain or justify it.
I do know that the elven mage I'm planning down the road is going to a lesbian. It feels right to me.

The FemShep friendship with Garrus is really great too. It ties into the romance very nicely, but it's wonderful all on its own.
Ever since they announced the Qunari and we saw the DHMG picture, Qunquisitor/Dorian was bound to happen for me.
Qun Warrior Templar/Dorian ftw!
Qun Warrior Templar/Dorian ftw!
I actually thought about going as a Templar that's a little disdainful of the Chantry for the Dorian romance. It would fit into the Auron theme I've got in mind nicely. He's going to be a 2h warrior as well. ![]()
