I just started to get intrest in the game, bsc after ME3 I promised myself  - NEVER EVER AGAIN BUYING GAME IN PREORDER - and do not expect too much, bcs heartbreak is painfull:)))

 

But... I waited for this title anyway. No credits, and no expectation. I will just play. And I will see if I like it or not...

 

but what I wanted to ask:

 

Do you want characters in the games looks exactly like humans? Is it good? Or rather do you want them beeing like ugly humans?)) Realistic over beauty?)

 

I personaly liked beauty in games, I like them preatty/handsome, or at lest some of them... Realism is all around us every day. I have enough:)) 

 

For me, from the picures I've seen, thay are all just ugly. Only Varric is OK, but thats Varric:) I used to him. Maybe I used to the others too, but ... whats the problem with the faces? I hope in the game they will look better...

It's just you. Yep you're the only one in the entire Universe, nay the entire Multiverse who thinks the companions are ugly.

I feel ya, I am not happy with them as well, but then choices of leliana and morrigan in DAO didn't really float my boat either ,but then I just modded them, to be more to my taste while still being lore friendly, saddly with FB3 modding may be a no go this time.

 

I'll give this thread a mintue before its lock just like all the others criticising the compaions attractiveness.....

Alot of peoples dont find them ugly . And did you scroll down at all ! so many topic like this....not gonna end up well . 

 

And to answer your question: Before 3D came , everything was Ugly . Yet peoples played and paid for their games . Even if they could barely see their toons . 

Somes games to this day are still being talked about , and new games still dig in those now Abandonware games to make their games shine just as brighter . 

 

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder . If that is true....then the Dev is showing us what they find beautiful .

I want characters in a game to look realistic for once instead of whatever the media tries to peddle to us on a daily basis. Actual realistic looking characters is far more interesting to me than the countless of games with super models.

And I don't feel that a realistic look is the same thing as ugly.

I don't get why people say characters in this game look ugly. Surely they aren't all attractive to me but we all have our own preferences and I find pretty many of our companions and advisors stunning.

I have no problem with lock the thread. Not the first one. 

I just seen pictures and feeling an urge to simply say -  I do not like the most of them. And maybe I said it wrong. The problem is not "the realistic look', rather the faces without anything interesting... or maybe even whorse - look at eg Dorian and what do you think of him?)

Anyway I hope I'm wrong. I hope they will have stunning prsonalities and make the gameplay wonderfull. I really want this,

My first impresion - they are all ... ugly. Talking with friends about it right now, same opinion. 

 

And I'm sorry, I do not intend to offend anyone. I didnt seen the game yet.

They are using a different Engine . A different ENGINE! So of course they look different . It is a different ENGINE .

I guess you have some kind of standard that doesn't just match with DAI. I don't get how you see DA2 companions better looking though, I find the character design pretty similar. Also Dorian is best looking companion for me, well I like Cass too but Dorian is more attractive to me since he's guy ^^ I just have hard time graps how you see these characters ugly. Not everyone of them is good looking or attractive to me but they aren't really ugly either to me nor their look bother me. I kinda like range that we have.

Simple solution: Don't buy the game. The game developers are not going to cater to your needs.

I fail to see how the faces of the companions in DAI lack interesting features. This time around the faces actually show more skin detail in comparison with the previous DA games so I have a real hard time understanding the point of view of the OP and his/her friends.

Agree with your last statement totally beauty is totally in the eye of the beholder. There is no such thing as a universally adored or despised look.

 

The discrimination thing I'm not sure I do agree with totally, like a lot of discrimination, by appearance is way more common than people will admit to, and it's not just an age thing, in fact today's generation tend to be less discriminatory on the whole than say mine.

DA2 characters look like crap compared to those in Inquisition. You should look at some DA2 screenshots again, especially compare Merrill and Isabela to Sera and Vivienne if you want to get a good idea of how much the faces have improved since DA2.

There is always chance you'l like them better in the game itself, OP. Screenshots and demos not always convey 100% of attractiveness, even if we speak only of visual side of it. 

 

I myself find only Cole not attractive - visually, but I guess, he is not supposed to be, considering who and what he is.

 

Everybody else looks perfectly fine to me, ranging from Wow to Okay, but definitely not ugly.
