What is Flemeth, she has appeared to both The Warden and Hawk as well as Maric,  Loghain, and Sandal she is somehow connected to the blight, but isn't immortal. So I'm curious what other people think of Flemeth and what her role will be in DAI. Could she perhaps be responsible for the Fade Rift, and be the endgame enemy  or and ally, maybe even there will be choice between supporting Flemeth or Morrigan.

She is a big-ass abomination who called on spirits to kill her husband Conobar. She obviously cannot be killed by any of the usual means because my warden and her guys tried. Because of her use of her daughters she is close to immortal. Maybe if someone killed her in her human shape she could be killed - who knows. She has her own agenda and one cannot really be sure . . . .she is a bit Twilight Zone.

No one knows yet, and anything's possible. :P

I'm sure her role in DA:I will be rescuing the PC at some point.

In Witch Hunt Morrigan revises her opinion of what Flemeth is, saying she is not an abomination, and not even human.

Personally, I think she's Fen'Harel, the Dread Wolf of Elven mythology.

She's something alright, maybe she came from a Lovecraftian horror, and invaded the Dragon Age universe or she's the old man janitor who works at Bioware?

I'm leaning towards Fen'Harel or a reborn Old God created through the Dark Ritual in one of the past Blights.

Likely Zazikel, the Archdemon of the Second Blight, formerly the Old God of Freedom. Morrigan was raised by Flemeth and her world view is all about freedom, plus here's no direct account of the warden slaying it dying in the process. Zazikel is also referred to as an Old Goddess in a passage describing a holiday dedicated to her in the World of Thedas.

As my Warden told Morrigan, Flemeth is "a nutty old bat".

I think that she is somehow linked to Andraste or the Old Gods or both. I don't think that she's evil, though. In fact, I think she's trying to make the world a bit better. She is very powerful; if she wanted riches or power, she could have either (or both) at pretty much any time. She's more complex than that.

Flemeth is BioWare's "MacGuffin".  She is used to explain plot gaps, to solve otherwise fatal encounters (Ishal & Hawke's Lothering Flight), and to "force" later plot sequences.  As to her ultimate role, only DG knows!

Apologies for the double entry, the first attempt seemed to hang/fail.

Flemeth is Flemeth. All I know is I wouldn't want to play chess with her. She is far too good at putting the right pieces into play at the right time.
