If there is another topic that covers this, my apologies I went over a few and didn’t see anything specifically tailored to this conversation!

Anyways, who did you romance in your play through(s)? Why? How’d you feel about the development of their romance with your Warden? Out of all the characters you have romanced, which one was your favorite? Also, if you could romance ANYONE (even choices that are not available in game) who would it have been?

I favor Alistair in all my play through(s), mine is more of an obsession with his voice actor (at least initially) but then it turned into a love for the character and his ‘witty one-liners’ I loved how the relationship seemed to blossom tenderly, and it was a new experience for Alistair and I feel the relationship played well into his character growth.

I have romanced all of them, though I tend to romance Alistair and Zevran the most. Alistair and Zevran are tied for my favorite romance choice, as I love them both for different reasons. Alistair is sweet, funny, and tender, and you definitely get the "first love" vibe from his romance. Zevran is charming, sexy, and loyal, and I adore causing this "anti-love" fellow to fall in love with my Warden. I also love the fact that Zevran won't dump you (well, unless you cause his approval to plummet into hatred), while an unhardened Alistair will dump you if you make him king (and you don't become queen). Zevran will stay with you if you marry Alistair or Anora, which is sweet, as it proves how strong his love is. So, Zevran definitely wins in the loyalty category for me. But again, Alistair and Zevran are tied for my favorite.

My least favorite is probably Leliana. I don't know why, but I've just never felt a strong connection with her when I romance her. I'm going to try to romance her again using the Leliana Romance Scenes mod and see if that helps.

If I could romance someone else in the game who is not a current romance choice, it would have to be Shale. I adore her personality and sarcasm. Although any physical stuff would have to wait until she regained her mortality, for I don't think my Warden could survive otherwise. Think of the broken bones! :D

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "Thedas" definitely.

When i first got Origins years ago, I played, got to Ostagar and was still trying to get a handle on the story, who would be important to it, I actually thought King Cailan would have a larger role (not a romance, but at least one of the important NPCs of the game).  Losing him at the fateful battle immediately after was like a punch in the gut.  My hatred for Loghain burned in me for many a playthrough after because of that initial betrayal/loss.

My first glimpse of Alistair was "OMG he's so goofy!  This guy is supposed to be my warden's romantic interest?!!"  Then he opened his mouth and Steve Valentine's voice came out saying Gaider's words and my heart melted.  If I were to list any of the human/elven LI's it would be him.  His romance was the perfect match to that 'newness' of the game, discovering him not just as another NPC but as the wonderfully written and acted character he was.  No romance in the games before or since has touched my heart the way his has.  *Edit* the only one that comes close is my Imperial Agent's LI, Vector.  He possesses some of that same innocence and vulnerability.

Over the course of the game, that new eventually wore off as I got to know him, Zevran, Leliana, Shale, Morrigan, all the people who would be a part of my warden's story and I fell in love with them all in different ways.  They drew me in with their stories of hope and love and struggle and survival against all odds and I immersed myself in the living, breathing world that was Bioware's masterpiece of storytelling.  No story since has come close to the love affair I've had with Thedas itself, and I don't think any will.

I have played the game so much there isn't anyone that hasn't been romanced but if I play the game today then it is either Anora or none.  Simply put they just don't interest me at all.  That isn't just a dragon age thing it applies to all games I play.  Personally I would favor them being removed from games completely but I know am pretty much alone in that thinking.

Alistair and Zevran; Al for my City Elf and Zev for my Mage Elf. I wanted to romance Morrigan but she's not available for women and I don't want to make a male character. I'm not attracted to Leliana in any playthrough because I just find her least appealing of all romance interests. The ones available are really nice though.

Alistair is so endearingly awkward and sincere behind his snarky sense of humor, which worked perfectly for my charismatic, nonchalant, equally snarky city elf. Zevran is worldly and experienced, having seen many amazing places and having so many incredible stories to share, which works perfectly for my sheltered mage who's always wanted to see the world. (EDIT: Yet they can also relate to being raised in a "gilded cage," her in the Circle and him in the Crows.)

My very first romance was with Alistair. I loved his goofiness and his sense of humour. And then he dumped me and killed himself killing the Archdemon.

So I avoided him on the next few play throughs and romanced Leliana and Zevran and even Morrigan. Once someone posted on how to avoid getting dumped and Ali immolating himself, then I went back with him. While I've hardened him ever since, the line required to do it is my least favourite in the whole game, since I do not believe in it at all, not in game and certainly not in real life.

In both DAO and DA2 I've played as both men and women and have romanced everybody playing as a Male Hawke and romancing Isabella is probably my favorite but I dont really pay attention to the romancing aspect of the game as a female just like I didn't in mass effect... to me(and maybe its just me) I feel that the game is more rewarding as a female if she's a badass...I always do the same thing start romancing someone and when it starts to get serious I basically tell them the mission comes first... My sister said its because women are naturally more goal oriented and men sometimes need an extra motivation to save the world

Alistair is my main squeeze

He was my first romance. I fell in love with his innocence and good nature. His humor was a huge plus for me (being able to make me laugh is a huge deal for me in a RL relationship). In a world that was falling into chaos and darkness due to the Blight it was nice to have someone around that could make me smile as easily as he did.

But I try to romance Zevran on any elf I have. I love Zevran in my own way, but not nearly as much as I do Alistair. It kills me a little on the inside when I force myself to stay away from Alistair or if I start a relationship with him and end up ending things to go to Zevran. The utter devastation in his voice when that happens... *choke up*

If there were characters I could have romanced, it would have been Teagan, Nathaniel Howe and Ser Gilmore.

If there were characters I could have had sexual brief romances with on my more promiscuous characters, it would have been Cailan (his sexual escapades were well known, and I would have liked to have the option to having one night before the Battle of Ostagar). Daveth, I've always liked him and his charm. Cullen for my mage

^^^^^ I love that line. It's actually my ringtone for whenever I get a voicemail. So every time someone leaves me a message, Alistair tells me I'm beautiful, and I thank him. It's quite a nice pick-me-up. :)

And to add to my list of characters I would romance (besides Shale), I would definitely romance Teagan, Cullen, Nathaniel Howe, and Ser Gilmore (not the mod version).

I have romanced Morrigan and Leliana.  I romanced Leliana the vast majority of the time, but I didn't really like her...  I guess I felt obligated to follow the romance plot for some reason, I don't know.  If I had the chance, I would have romanced Wynne since she was my favorite female character... it's not like she was that old...

I totally have it as a text notification for my husband, lol!! My e-mail notification is Alistair saying "Yes,swooping is bad..."

If I could add to my romance list it would be Tegan, and Ser Gilmore!! I was really sad to see the fate of Ser Gilmore, I haven't used the mod to make him a party member but I heard that it is a pretty in-depth mod.

Teagan? Hmmm? ;)

Ser Gilmore. Bann Teagan. Tamlen. If not a Cousland, then Fergus.

I haven't actually been able to play a male character thru far enough to romance the ladies. If I did want a girl on girl with Lolly I couldn't because I always got distracted by Theirin. Would have like a dalliance with Cailan. Maybe even Daveth. Varric? Nathaniel, Cullen, (Awakening) Anders - Maker my girls are sooo slutty (not a reflection on me by any means). -_-

Help! I befriended Morrigan while I was trying to romance her.

I haven't done her main side quest yet. I don't want to just put a baby in her at the end of the game. I want to really romance her. Can I turn this around somehow?

I have romanced them all and believe me being male i found it weird playing coy to Alistair and Zevran but strangely not unpleasnt gave me a different outlook on the game. But talking of favourites its Morrigan who holds my heart nobody in the party seems to like or trust her which makes me want her more.I dont believe shes evil flemeth tainted her view of the world and men and i think that my warden changed her outlook on life she fell in love despite herself and regret s leaving him at the end.But no tears i love her so much i chase her down and declare my love to her then we kiss and step into the mirror hopefully to return one day!

I re read your conversation topic and realised i hadnt really answered properly sorry about that will try again.I have romanced everyone but Morrigan is my favourite from my very first playthrough when she steps out the ruins in the wilds i thought wow! this woman is beatiful. Her eyes captivate and her voice is sexy, shes mysterious and exotic what more could a man want.I like the way that your early conversations with her she seems terse and abrupt but as you get to know her she softens and by the end shes giggling in your presence.I did enjoy romancing Leliana but now i always feel like im betraying Morrigan, can you believe that!!.As for someone not available i thought about Anora but Alistair is my friend it goes against the grain. There is that tavern girl in Redcliffe i would like to sweep off her feet but a rewarding kiss will have to do.

Leliana's probably my least favourite. Sorry, Leliana, nothing personal.

Now, out of all the characters left, Zevran is probably the one I find most interesting. But the other two's romances have some pretty direct plot influence. Now, as I don't really like the Human Noble origin, Alistair's impact is a bit less than otherwise. Being the mistress to the King, especially if he's married, is interesting enough, though I won't be on the throne. Morrigan also has a pretty large impact in Witch Hunt, with the Eluvian, but it also really changes the dynamic and feel of the Dark Ritual. Plus, the Eluvian does pretty much change the "ending" for your Warden.

I make it a point to switch up romance and just my party in general each playthrough, so I don't really have a most common one. My "main"/import romanced Morrigan, though I slightly regret not going with Zev. The main problem is, I liked my main's story and it's heavily tied to the romance. Not that I don't like Morrigan's romance, it's interesting, but I might prefer her friendship progression more.

Leliana is my only option, so she's the one I've always gone for. While I'm not 100% sure how devoted I am to her character, I do think her romance is very nicely written and has no terrible pitfalls or anything, so I've never regretted it. I've wanted to romance Morrigan before, but she's not available, so...

Morrigan. She is awesome. Alistair was okay but after playing the game for a bit I got sick of his jokes and whining. I tried Zevran but he gets annoying after a while as well. I can't stand talking to Leliana long enough to develop anything. Morrigan matched my warden perfectly and I have yet to get bored of her character no matter how many times I've played. She's head strong and independent, and had plans outside of just following the Warden around. I think it's because out of all the LIs she was able to surprise me the most. When I first played, I was a female who was romancing Alistair, it was sweet but sort of predictable. I got sick of Alistair b*tching about every decision I made that wasn't rainbows and sun shine and I was even more sick of altering my choices to please him.  Then we reached the Circle tower and Morrigan sided with the Templars to kill the mages. My own character was a mage and I role played her as hating the Circle, Irving, and everyone else there. I didn't give it another thought when I rampaged through the Circle with my best buddy Morrigan, got her mother's grimiore and everything. After that play through I rolled a man just to romance her. That became my canon Warden.

I'm the opposite, I usually dump Morrigan as soon as I get to Lothering, & always take Leliana.
My warden is an intellectual & finds Morrigan too dumb & childish.
She spends her time trying to belittle Alistair,
Someone she thinks is even less intelligent than herself.
What would an intelligent person get from this?
It's something only a simpleton would do.
You get the feeling from her displeasure at the mages liking books, & again at the books in the ancient temple that she may be embarrassed about being illiterate. (Yes I know she can decipher the scribbling & symbols in Flemeth's Grimoires)
She will apparently stop at nothing to emulate her "mother"
A powerful abomination who has spent many lifetimes gaining total dominance over the small area around her one room forest shack.
Not so much lived many lifetimes, as waisted many lifetimes doing nothing but existing & scaring the local hicks.
My warden might feel sorry for her, having no real opportunity of an education & a normal life.
But she doesn't want to put up with her catty ways.
Plus I like that if I make the ultimate sacrifice, Leliana will take her own life to be with me in death.(But I'm just selfish like that.)

RIght now I am romancing Zevran, so far I have only romanced two charcters because I can't seem to get through my charcters quickly enough to romance someone else. I am going to try a male mage to romance Morgian in my next play through, while my Dalish man elf will probaly romance Leliana.

Only on my second playthrough. First was a casteless dwarf girl who fell hard for Alistair. Absolutely loved his romance and how central it felt to the story. She made some bad choices toward the end because of it, stupid Wynne, going round being right all the time. I might replay from the Landsmeet on, not sure. Got to Awakening and discovered that not only was Alistair not in it (understandable) there wasn't even a vague explanation as to why not, got irritated and stopped playing to start a new character. May, as I say, replay it, and put Alistair on the throne (because ugh, Anora is terrible) but can't quite decide whether that would just be horribly out of character. (Although I only put Anora on the throne the second time I won the Landsmeet because I buggered up the talk with him where I think you're supposed to be able to end up being his mistress and there wasn't a post-Landsmeet save point before that chat).

This time around I'm playing a male city elf who, while he is bloody glad he killed Vaughan, is now trying to make up for that by sparing anyone he can, because he feels like he shouldn't put himself in some kind of position of judge and executioner (I don't think juries are probably a thing in Ferelden) so if someone either surrenders/can be scared off or, in Zevran's case, is knocked out but can be roused and spoken to, he'll let them live (on the other hand, anyone actively attacking him is fair game). He's also feeling guilty, given the circumstances of his not-getting-married, at how relieved he was not to have to marry, well, a woman. So, I'm sure you can guess who he's romancing. Well. Shagging. He's currently trying not to fall any harder for Zevran, but not really succeeding. (Interestingly, had a chat with Alistair that I'm sure my dwarf never had the option of, where he asked what my elf thought of various other members of the party (all LIs and Sten, I think? Not Wynne, anyway.) Have had a few other chats that I don't think my dwarf got as options, come to think of it, not sure if I just missed them or if they are location-specific or something.) I've tried to avoid reading spoilers, so I'm half expecting Zevran to end up double-crossing us, though he never did as my dwarf's moderately-friendly-stop-calling-me-beautiful-though companion.

I suspect my next character will go for Morrigan, although it'll mean playing as a man again which I'm not really used to (I'm a woman, and if the option's there I'll almost always play as one). She's intriguing, though. My first attempt at playing the game was a female city elf and I really liked what little I saw of Morrigan that time. My first full playthrough I found her super-annoying about 90% of the time. Current playthrough I'm liking her a lot more. I've noticed this with Skyrim (modded) companions, too, there's a popular one called Vilja who I *hated* the first time I tried her out, when I was playing as a 30-something Imperial woman with a wife and kids who was at about level 25 when I installed the mod. A few months later, I decided to give her another go (because even though I found her character annoying, I thought the mod was very interestingly done) and, as a teenage Breton girl who met her pretty much straight out of Helgen, I absolutely adored her, and even went on to have the original Vilja in Oblivion be a significant part of my Oblivion main character's story.
