So after seeing the PS4 character customization and gameplay video, I'm just still flabbergasted about the fact that female dwarves could have facial hair. (Though it looks like they're 5 o'clock shadows) Though I quickly accepted the thought being that you guys want to connect with that Tolkien's Lord of the Rings lore feel on dwarves and that this game is a fantasy world that is set in a medieval period, since women probably didn't shave that much at the time to begin with. Good job with this added bonus to character customization.

Now moving on.

Questions to ask being about female dwarves with facial hair is this:

If we let Branka lived in DA:O, would we get to see facial hair on her? I presume that since she's a smith working type of dwarf, has to be very dirty, have no time to be clean about it, and is very busy making golums and all.

Is their a posibility that Felsi (Oghren's love interest) may have facial hair as well?

Will all female dwarves have this feature in the game? Will it only be to female dwarves in Orzammar and not surface dwarves? Vice versa?

Moving from Female Dwarves.

To the elves, will male elves get at lease a 5 o'clock shadow if you can't give them beards? What about mustaches? Can they have them?

In facial hair in general.

In the video you guys said that braids on the beards can be resized in customization. It that only to the dwarven males? Can we have that same feature on human males as well? Do the male qunari males have facial hair? Can we extend the length of a beard (i.e a beard like Blackwall's to long as say... pass the neck?)

Can we resize a mustache? Like make it thicker or curlier at the ends?

Will we ever get over the character customization menu after having so many options about how we can make our inqusitior look like!?

Seriously though, thank you Bioware for adding the color wheel into the customization, since this will make the experience much better.

O.K I'm done saying enough questions for now.

Elves, canonically, do not grow facial hair to any degree.

I wonder about facial hair on female dwarves in DA. Is it like the real world, where noticeable (not talking about a little upper lip fuzz) facial hair on women certainly does occur but is relatively uncommon? Is it par for the course for lady dwarves, but fashion/culture dictates that it be shaved or waxed off? It's not like they even have as much as female LotR dwarves - just a little stubble. I figure it's probably the first option... it's common enough to be included in the CC, but uncommon enough that most of the lady dwarves we run into aren't rocking any. *shrugs* Have to ask a dev, I guess.

And I know this thread is about facial hair, but I keep wondering... do elves in DA have body hair? I mean, they have eyebrows, but they don't grow beards... are there hairy-legged elves? Do they get chest hair, pubic hair, nose hair? LOL

To answer some of your questions:

Now that female bearded dwarves is a thing, they might show up on NPCs, but we'll have to wait for the game to find out.

Neither gender of elf can grow facial hair.

Qunari males (not females) can grow facial hair. Human males (not females) can also grow facial hair.

The braided beard style seems (from what we've seen though I may be wrong) to be dwarf exclusive.

Facial hair cannot be manually resized, if you're looking for a different length/thickness of a certain style there may be one available for you but technically it is a different 'style' (i.e. a different spot on the slider).

I'd like to see a situation where you're talking to a dwarf with a beard and you call him a man and it turns out it's a woman.

The scout is a dwarf right? Does she have a beard?
