This was my favorite gameplay video/stream yet. I wanna say it was because it showed some specialization snippets, but I think it was actually the glimpse of the characters and story that we got. Leliana gave me chills. Her new persona has changed my attitude towards her vastly. Morrigan has always been my favorite character of the series, but for once another character comes close. And damn does Leliana look good in this game; one of the pre-existing characters that was undeniably made better by the new engine (vs. the various other characters that have had their new looks criticized/questioned). 

 

Leliana praise aside, the Knight Enchanter was my intended specialization since they were all revealed, and this video just solidified my choice.

I wonder if her personality changes if you romanced her in DA:O.

Personally, I can't wait to be in a snowy land of bliss.   Of course, I'm from GA, and not counting last winter (Snowpacalypse, everybody in the entire nation saw it), we don't get a lot of snow. 

 

As far as Cassandra, sure her hair might make her seem a little androgynous.  But that's not a bad thing.  Her facial features are purely feminine.  And if that didn't do it, take a look at her breastplate and hips.  If you still can't tell...  Lollipop Chainsaw is that a way.

The new system doesn't tell us the amount, says Allan, but it will have qualifiers (e.g greatly disapproves).

I've been a huge fan of Cullen for years, and I have to say his new face will take some getting used to. I was very attached to his DA2 look and softly spoken answers to my Hawke. I'm going to have to get to know this new (hard) personality he seems to be sporting.

Huh. I never noticed it before. So you think it looks pretty?? I just think it looks very out of place... I guess it's made out of horsehair?

 

I was just joking, I don't really know if it is a hairpiece, but it kind of looks like it could be. I think it's kinda pretty because it softens her a bit, rather than just having a plain boy-cut.

The pop-in textures and awful facial animation got me a bit worry about the game's technical issues.... 

That said, cool stuff from this video. This is what I've been wanting to see from DA since its announcement.

What was wrong with the facial animations?

My other biggest problem is the creatures/monsters animation.  Their robotic and static animation with them sliding around is so last generation.  I want a bear to run and charge and fight like a bear(with a bit of AI that will make it run away and come charging back again) instead just spinning around in circle with one swipe or one or 2 combat moves from them is just a bit lazy.  I will take good animations over great CGI any day of the week.

I saw the lip-syncing improved which i'm quite happy. Others are pointing out their body animation and gestures look static and not natural. The only problem is the Inquisitor herself that lip-syncing is a little bad which is understandable that the facial was customised.

I think they're still hammering out the lip syncing according to a post a very short while ago. No I don't have a source but it was on twitter or youtube or something.

 

I don't think it was that bad though, but then again I'm more interested in exploration and combat and less nitpicky about how their lips move

Slightly disappointed that there wasn't (at least in that build) a Borderless Fullscreen option native to the game.

I hope that isn't a sign of things to come. I'd hate to be called something I hate for the whole game.

 

As for Cassandra, I will love to hate her, so to speak. Not my type, annoying personality traits and supporting this Herald of Andraste thing. No, Cassandra, you won't like me.....and quite possibly neither will you like my Inquisition.

I get the feeling Cass believes in that considering she specifically notes they're going to try and stop the spread of the title.

 

 

On a different note I wonder what the Qunari Background War-table mission will be, maybe the Mercenary company they worked for was not wiped out by the breach?

Did anyone else think that Leliana looked really, REALLY unappealing? Her cheek bones are the widest thing you see on her face, it looks very very odd to me.

 

I really dislike her re-design. Or, rather, I hate how it turned out in the engine. Her concept art is lovely, but I agree that her face is disconcerting, and I can't pinpoint why. It makes me sad, because I adore her and hers is the only character model that just does not work for me. 

 

ETA: Cassandra is looking way too hot, though. I felt a little of the old bitterness from her romance reveal bubble up when she was steamrolling everyone. My male Lavellan is a lucky dude.

Does anyone know what that thing on the right side of your belt is that is protruding out? Apart from the glitch where your hand keeps going through it, it just looks a bit strange. It can be seen at around the 6.18 mark of the first video and the 8.08 mark even larger.

I'm not quite sure why people are complaining about the characters being stiff. Have you guys even played DA:O and DA2? I see this as an improvement, they all seemed to have their own unique animations.

01. Josephine's accent is incredibly awesome

02. Cullen is smoldering. Might have thought him an obscure twit with an unhealthy fan base in previous games but here damn he is hot. He's officially bumped way up on the romance priority list.

03. Dialogue seems awesome.
