Does anyone know what that thing on the right side of your belt is that is protruding out? Apart from the glitch where your hand keeps going through it, it just looks a bit strange. It can be seen at around the 6.18 mark of the first video and the 8.08 mark even larger.

I think that's a warrior's horn, for rallying the troops. Similarly we've seen rogues with a lockpicking tool kit and mages with a spell book hooked to their belts, so I think it's just a little visual cue showing the player's class.

I really don't get the drooling over Cullen. Maybe it's because I'm a straight guy who doesn't judge him on his sexual appeal, but he's always struck me as a bit of a tool. Granted, less of a tool in DA2 than he was in DAO, but just look at this:

CullenDiplomacy.png

Keeper Unpronounceable: "We're just checking in... our clan member isn't in trouble, are they?"

Josephine: "Let's send an elven messenger to talk to them nicely."

Inquisitor: "Sounds good. I'll consider it."

Leliana: "Let's send an elven envoy to do something nice for them."

Inquisitor: "Sounds good. I'll consider it."

Cullen: "Let's send a battalion of troops to assure them all is well."

Inquisitor: "WAT."

Im pretty sure the military approach may have negative implications regarding your clan so it may be the shortest but that doesnt necessarily mean best option.

My point exactly. It's such a colossally bone-headed move that shouldn't even be suggested. It's at the "what do people see in this guy" level of "what where you thinking."

Yeah its really boneheaded unless you role-play a disillusioned dalish who hates their own clan, then its a great choice  :)

I guess not all advisors are equally qualified for all missions.

Also, I would like to tell him "Weren't you Knight Commander of the Templars at Kirkwall? That's....not exactly a recommendation."

I think it's a horn for summoning the horse.

Don't like the guy , but having a military man responding to all problems with troops makes sense, when all you have is a hammer etc

I'm not quite sure why people are complaining about the characters being stiff. Have you guys even played DA:O and DA2? I see this as an improvement, they all seemed to have their own unique animations.

It's more a voice issue than an animation issue. The voice-acting of some characters suffers from over-precise pronunciation and not enough natural melody. I noticed that in the banter in the gameplay videos earlier as well.

Oh, I don't doubt he'll be the right choice for certain situations, but I imagine he'll be my unofficial gold farmer in the meantime. :P

When I first saw their name I was like "did the writer miss a space between words here or just mash the keyboard or something?"

Probably because people have started calling you the herald of Andraste, if someone is going around as the "herald of Andraste" there's going to be someone that the common people may consider as a higher authority than the chantry on what Andraste may want. And you can see why no religion would really want that.

Well he's the leader of your armed forces, you don't use him for subtle work.

He is the most aggressive of the three, and this is obvious not the best choice for a military approach .
Though I don't understand exactly what 'being a tool' means.

I'm pretty sure they think the inquisitor caused the breach.

It's sounding more and more like the first inFamous the more I hear about it.

Maybe the twist is that The Elder One is an ancient version of you who travelled back in time? Of course I hope not because time travel is bullocks. :o

I actually like Time Travel stories quite a bit but that seems out of place in Dragon Age.

Without getting too off-topic. Let's just say that 'time travel' as a concept is always bullocks unless it's like Futurama where it essentially solves itself out when it comes to paradox. I think that show does a rather interesting and satirical take on whole thing.

The inevitability of paradoxes and overt convultion is rather annoying. It worked in inFamous, partially because it's comic-book based and superhero comics have never let anything like science get in the way of their fun. That is to say, within the medium of that world it doesn't need much elaboration for it to work, but it would be weird in Dragon Age so to speak.

Anyway, the overall point was that much of the intro seemingly reflects inFamous 1's intro. Press start, **** blows up, you're the only one who survived and you've gained an odd power from the blast etc.

I kinda liked it in Infinite, mostly because it isn't the traditional paradox sort-of time travel, but grounded in multi-verse theory.

Ultimately I didn't think it was annoying on the same level as a few other examples I can come up with. But there it is.
