You have to engage tactical mode, that is, use the zoomed out camera which is superior in every way to the third person action view anyway. Then consoles will get to see what it's like on PC.

For PC you have to scroll out all the way, into what was isometric in DA:O.

Tbh Tactical Camera doesn't sound all that great to me.  I was fine with the radial wheel pausing from the past games.

There is auto attack. On console it's the right trigger (hold if you want to keep attacking) and on PC it's on both mouse and a keybind.

Just out of curiosity, could you explain exactly what you mean by "on PC it's on both mouse and a keybind"?  Are you saying that the default mouse button for attack (likely the right button) is the toggle between auto attack and non-auto attack?  Or it's just attack, and you choose which option you want via a setting in the options screen (or a keybind)?

I'm guessing it's the latter but I'm a bit confused by your wording.  Thanks.

On a similar note, I'd like to ask if we can use the mouse to move? or are we required to use the wsad keys to move?

Of course you can.

I don't use the keyboard though, and I map them to the arrow keys, simply for the fact that I rarely use them.  But yes, you can use mouse to click on a spot and you will move to that location.  Also, RMB+LMB "drives" (or moves you forward) as well.

Indeed. I always move to point in DAO. I never drive with WASD.

I would like to be able to simply push a button to make a character continuously attack an enemy (a.k.a. the way Origins and DA2 handled it).

Having to hold down a button is not auto-attack.

I don't get why it's such an issue too. DA2 had the same problem on consoles.

I really hope it's toggled.  I like manually pressing a button for each attack.  Makes me feel more connected with my character.

I don't when it boils down to flailing at the enemy with no impact.

Speaking of auto-attack, is it possible to order around more than one character simultaneously? Like in DAO/DA2 you could select 2-4 characters at the same time and with a single click have them attack same target or move to same place. Didn't see this function used in PC controls stream and wonder if it's still in.

I've been asking that question for a good 2 weeks now... No response.

I figure they're coding it in now, if they haven't already.

Not only there is no auto attack, but whenever you right click on a target, a confirmation pop up appears asking if you're sure. And pressing ENTER has no effect on it.

11:58 of this video contradicts that statement.

Just like it's always worked.

Do PC users need to hold a key or can we just tell our character to attack an enemy and they will continuously do basic attacks without further input from us?

Related: Can I cancel out of all attack animations via abilities and movement? I didn't like missing Cross-Class-Combos in DA2 because Hawke was too busy staff-twirling.

There's no way that autoattack isn't in the PC version. Removing it would be too much of a departure from the first two games, and it's expected by everyone.

For consoles, the situation is more nebulous.

Some clarifications hopefully to the rescue!

When directly controlling a character (ie not in tactical cam mode):

-Hold controller trigger to continuously "auto"-attack, tap to do a single attack (or repeatedly tap, which does the same thing as hold)

-Hold 'R' (rebindable) or hold left click to continuously "auto"-attack, tap to do a single attack (or repeatedly tap, which does the same thing as hold)

Not pressing/holding attack button/key when directly controlling a character will cause them not to attack.

In tactical cam mode you're basically assigning orders, so all party members will autoattack while in tac-cam. The camera can be panned and tilted all around in tac-cam mode, it's not iso/top-down locked.

Thank you for the clarifications. It's at least good to know for sure DAO/2 auto-attack is completely absent outside of tactical cam.

Is there any reason we can't stay in Tac Cam all the time?

Edit: Let me rephrase. Can we stay in Tac Cam all the time?

Yeah, I'm not sure why I wouldn't at this point.

You could, but I find it's much easier/more convenient for running/navigating around when directly controlling.

Can you select all > move in tac cam? Er, I guess I should ask if we can select multiple party members in the first place?

That would depend on whether we can move-to-point outside of the Tac Cam. I always move-to-point, rather than driving with WASD.

WASD outside tac-cam.

There are group orders, like Attack My Target (of currently selected character), but no box/group select all.
