So I just unlocked my first UR X and it's the n7 Valkyrie (could have been worse though, at least it's not the Spitfire).

What do you think of the Valkyrie? Is there any point in using it when my PPR, Saber, Typhoon, Lancer and Harrier are all at XIII? Is there some neiche for it that none of these fulfill maybe?

It's one of those guns I never see anyone use at either gold or platinum, is it really that bad compared to the PPR, Lancer, Saber or Harrier?

Thanks!

The Valkyrie is a variant of the Avenger. So... no. Unless you like headshotting mooks.

It is more of a tactical and precise weapon for those people who prefer games like Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon or Counter-Strike over COD or Battlefield.

Well the killfeed will come up PatrickBateman (whatever your GT/ID/PSN is) [N7 Valkyrie] _________

So when you outscore everyone, they will know you did so using the Valkyrie

Plus it could be a refreshing change of pace.

It's lighter than all except the lancer and hits harder (than the lancer)?

Still not an excellent caster weapon tho...unless you're using 1 power. But then you aren't much of a caster, are you?

My favorite Turian with his trusty Valkyrie -

It's an elegant weapon for a more civilised age...

... just put it on the Quarksman and headshot all the things.

Try it on the Ghost.  Go for headshots.  If you like it on him, try it on other characters.  If not, then I think you have your answer.

I use it on turians, and try for headshots. Excellent gun for swiftly disposing of mooks IMO.

It's a good alternative to the Lancer or Saber, with higher DPS and headshot bonus. Just keep in mind that you need either a scope or some kind of accuracy boost like Hunter Mode. Some stability from Turian passive or consumable helps too. I like it with scope + EB on the TSent, or with EB + clip on the Geth Engineer.

It's not going to beat the Harrier except in ammo capacity, but let's face it the Harrier is pretty BS.

PPR and Typhoon aren't really comparable to these guns; they're boss killing sustained dps weapons.

Use it on Tesnt, Ghost, Tsol or Quarksman, EB+mag w/ AP rounds, owns almost every PUG.

Chealec said Quarksman which is my favorite.

Also like it on my Demolisher.  Arknade. Headshoot. Repeat.

Turians probably can use it best (TGI mainly of course). Geth are pretty good with it as well. Drell Adept also does pretty good if you build him as a weapons headshotting build with warp rounds. You have to hit the head though or it ain't worth chit.

Gave it a try with the TGI on platinum earlier today, not to bad I have to say but the constant clicking on the mouse button for shooting can be a bit too much after some time.

Sticking with my trusted PPR instead (as I enjoy it a lot more than the harrier)

Not a fan of it, considering how the Saber is superior in almost every situation. I use it on a variety of soldiers (mostly Tsol and Quarks) when I have way too many stabilization mods lying around and I want to thin the pile a little bit. Overall it's a decent enough AR but is outclassed by the ones mentioned in the OP.

Which is a shame, since the devs said they wanted to make the Valk some sort of a skill based Harrier. As in Harrier DPS with more reserve ammo but more reliant on headshots.

One out of three ain't bad.

Did they say that?  The Valkyrie existed before the Harrier.  Or was that just something they came up with when they balanced it much later?

That was the chatter around the old BSN. IIRC it was back when we were promised a "huge" buff to the Valk and ended up with a weight decrease and a HS multiplier buff . Don't know if there was an official comment or not but it seems plausible.

In that case there is no point. There is hax.

I use it on the Justicar.

The light weight allows me to spam bubble and BE's, while allowing me to take shots from range. It also has a massive clip, so you don't end up hugging ammo crates (stand up Harrier) and it's not an "ouch my hand is hot" weapon - really hate those  :D

It's ok for a change, but I seldom use any AR other than the Typhoon and Harrier, or Spitfire on a Platinum Juggy.
