Regardless of whether or not Asians exist in DA. I wonder if we could create an Asian character with the CC to allow more roleplaying immersion. I saw the playthrough, but I didn't see any Inquisitor with an Asian preset. Do they exist in the preset? If not, can we make one ourselves? This is not a complaining thread, simply a clarification thread.

There was one I saw in the CC trailer, I believe that looked "Asian", I guess you could say. Let me dig up a screenshot.

I know you could make vaguely Asian looking PCs in both DA: O and DA 2 so I'm sure it will be possible in DA: I.

I don't think we can in both ME or DA without some mod support. As far as I know Frostbite would be very hard to mod. Their CC is often very Euro-centric, so whenever I try to make an Asian character, they don't always look white. Not just skin colors or eyes, but the bone structures of Asians are very different from the standard European ones. I just hope they include a better variety this time around.

I think the character creator will allow you to make people that look recognisably asian. Even DA2's limited CC allowed me to make vaguely asian looking characters.

Thanks, that person looks a bit more like either a mixed Asian or hispanics. Maybe we can tweak around with it more. I guess I just have to wait and see.

Perhaps one day, if we get an exploration theme Dragon Age game meant to expand beyond the boarders of the maps of Thedas, will com across a civilization oriental inspirations.

 

Or...a twist...Jade Empire Shares the same world as Thedas!

Depends on what Asian you are looking for. There are many types so I will focus on just 2 of them. 

 

Asian Chinese / Japanese :- You have to tweak the CC carefully to get the desired outcome. In Thedas I don't think I ever saw any group of people that looked very Chinese-ish. 

 

Asian Indian :- A dusky or dark colored skin coupled with curly hairs. In Thedas, you can either be an Antivan or Rivaini or even Elf.

The CC is veeerrry flexible and in-depth this time around, so I'm 100% sure you'll be able to create an Asian-looking character. Certainly they'll look more realistic than some of the "Asian" presets in DAO and DA2.

I do hope we get to see more of Thedas - including countries we would identify as Asian.

I would absolutely LOVE to play a Dragon Age game where the player characters are traveling lands that are predominately non white. Many fantasy worlds seem to be chock full of mostly white folk. And by a large margin too. What happened to everybody else? Did they ever exist? A planet full of vastly different climates yet everyone has pale skin? Wtf?

 

I'm a huge David Gemmell fan and in his fantasy world there are many non white characters and countries. Some stories have even taken place entirely in these areas and with mostly these people. Maybe hopefully Dragon Age will one day do something similar.

Born and bred Asian here(Taiwanese), all I can say is "NOPE" . We have BO like everywhere else

Ethnic Asian living in North America here.

 

I don't know, the "you're Asian, therefore you must be Chinese!" and "you all look the same" and "Are you awake? I thought your eyes were closed" comments get pretty old. Unfortunately, we also suffer from BO, so there's no real positive there.

The CC is really flexible! I saw what looks toma black person. Then there's also one that looks asian. 

 

Hopefully the citizens of Thedas will also have such diverse looks.
