I think the character creator will allow you to make people that look recognisably asian. Even DA2's limited CC allowed me to make vaguely asian looking characters.
I'm not Asian, but I think Asians are beautiful so I love playing as one. I really hope I could could do that in DAI...

Anyways.. I'm part Asian myself, but I've given up expecting much of that here in DA. Maybe something unique will come some day from different continents besides Thedas.

I think you'll be able to do a more Asian style look this time around. I did like that the darker skin tones had pigmentation variation and oily patches, Makes it look so much more realistic than the one-tones of the past.

Past DA games didn't have this deep character creation to allow a creation of a Asian face.

He is talking about ethnic groups within the lore of DA that look Asian or seem based on a real world Asian cultures. Most of the peoples of Thedas are loosely based on medieval Europeans, and look European.
On that note..unless the Fex have been confirmed as non-human somewhere I'm kind of hoping that they turn out to be loosely based on the Mongols.

Wait what? You can? I can never make an Asian looking warden in DAO. It would be nice if one of the pre-set is Asian, so we can work off of it.

That's what a CC should be like: you're given a piece of clay and you can mold it however you want. But in Bioware games you can't even adjust the body model.
