Dunno. My first inq will be a rogue but I'm not really sold on any of the specializations. Maybe I'll just go with talents from the regular trees.

Since I can't be the party healer anymore I'll be a necromonger!

I said what I was going to do earlier in the thread, but I've been thinking about it. I guess the mage specs interest me the most, but the more I look at Tempest...

Don't know, since Necromancer and Rift Mage aren't revealed yet.

Whatever works best for archer rogue - right now I'm thinking my dwarfette will be an assassin.

Hmm? Their descriptions are up on the site if that's what you mean.

Do the companions have unique specs or do they get access to the ones we do?

I have a question:
Do the companions have unique specs or do they get access to the ones we do
From gameplay videos where they go through trees, Viv has Knight Enchanter, Iron Bull has Reaver, Cass has Templar. Unless they've tweaked the abilities within those tress I think its safe to say they don't have access to their own trees anymore. I think I prefer this...I can't make up my mind. I loved the unique trees that the DA2 companions had but I found they could often do their roles better than Hawke could do his if specced simlarly, Archer Varric and Tank Aveline greater than their Hawke counterparts particularly.

Yeah probably for the best i always liked issabela's and merril though atleast i can see what the other specs are like through other companions for my 2nd playthrough. It would be awesome if say you had cole picklock a door instead he fades through the door and unlocks it from the inside would be a nice lil attention to detailFrom gameplay videos where they go through trees, Viv has Knight Enchanter, Iron Bull has Reaver, Cass has Templar. Not a bad idea.
If i roll a rogue, i will be a tempest. As i play a mage normally, the elemental skills of a tempest makes it kind of like an arcane archer of sorts.

Assassin. Templars beware.

Probably assassin, though I'll need to see tempest first-hand before I'm sure.

Templar. There's a lot of naughty mages out there that need to be put in their place.
Necromancer sounds interesting for a mage.

Wow no one wants to be a champion? Oh well more room for me.
My Adaar will be a Champion, shield & sword user that keeps a calm yet laid back approach to things. He prefers the battle of attrition rather than the barbaric all out offense. Although when he needs to "bring the mayhem" when needed.
My first playthrough I'll probably want to play as you are. I seem to prefer to tank at first in games like this. Just a preference. But Knight Enchanter is definitely intriguing and may get my second go through!

Sure, but i want to check their trees before calling judgment. The only thing i know is that i won't play as a KE, at least not in the first playthrough.

Elgar'arla Lavellan - Artificer (for the flavor) or Assassin (wheeeee glass cannon). Definitely double daggers.
Granny/Papa Cadash - some warrior spec? I'd have to see their abilities to decide. Possibly will end up caving and making them a rogue.
