Can anyone explain to me why Divinity Original Sin isn't on Amazon?

So I get this great idea I'll try this game out on PC since I have an Amazon GC...only it's not on there. Amazon has like every possible PC game except this one? I'm confused. Is it exclusive to Steam or something?

It's a kickstarter funded-game, which usually means that it doesn't come with a physical copy, unless Amazon also do digital then I'm not sure of the problem.

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently it's on the UK Amazon so that's weird.

My best guess is still on the whole "it's a kickstarter-funded game" so it's most likely a distribution problem and not having a publisher, makes it a bit difficult in this day and age.

I hope this answers your question:

Due to the nature of this latest title being funded by the Kick Starter program (yet still developed and published by Larian Studios?) this Belgian company only produced a DVD/ PC format of this title in PAL region (which essentially covers European countries and Australia); the agreement for the US was only with steam (or with GoG.com), because that did not require additional funding to produce physical copies, only dialogue and voice changes.

So if you happen to have a PC that can read / play PAL region coding then you can in fact get a physical copy on DVD. Barring that, yes it is only available on Steam(and the aforementioned GoG.com) the legal way (and, since I am simply being a bit through, possibly mirrors to get it, shall we say, "almost legal" way.)

Again, hope this helps.

Ah, okay. That make sense. Guess I'll get it on Steam down the line sometime.

I was right then -- It was a distribution problem, but yeah, there it is.

Pal is a TV standard not for DVD's if you can import it. You can play it
