Just make sure your processor can run a 64-bit operating system. The processor has to support 64-bit extensions in order to run a 64-bit operating system.

I wouldn't worry about that. x86-64 CPUs are based on AMD64 and Intel 64 (formerly EM64T), which are practically identical (Intel reverse-engineered AMD64 after their own IA-64 failed), and they've been around since 2004. Basically, if your processor is an Athlon 64 or a Prescott Pentium 4 or newer, you're set. I would worry more about whether it is actually fast enough to actually run DA:I instead.

Yeah 64 bit is going to become more and more common... which is a good thing.

Just buy an OEM copy of windows 8.1 for like $60 and you're set :)

Where are you seeing it for $60?! Cause it's listed at $92 on Amazon and $99 on newegg.  Or were you just guesstimating?    :P

But, srsly, if anyone knows where to find it cheaper, PM me!

Really not difficult to find 8.1 for around the $60 range. PM sent.
