I can only say, what a contrast to the pre-release time of ME3.

ME3:
"I'm worried about X".
*Developer says something vague*
"You know, that's not exactly reassuring"
*script is leaked*
"You can't be f****** serious!"
*developer says it's an old script*
"Well, it can hardly be worse, so let's hope for the best"
And the game came out, and it was worse.

DAI:
"I'm worried about X".
*Gameplay/demo/info video comes out*
"All right, that's really nice. There is this minor thing about Y though"
*next video comes out*
"Well, that looks *really* awesome. The only remaining point is Z".
*next video comes out*
"Wow, that's impressive. OK I get the picture. I'll shut up and wait for the game"

I have the distinct impression DAI will be great. If I'm going to be dissatisfied with the story, it will most likely not be because it's a bad story, but because it simply goes too much against my preferences in stories.

For me it's like Bioware can't do worse than DA2 & ME3. Right? Right?!

* They're making a generic epic story. Okay, they probably wouldn't mess it like ME3 ending.
* Graphics are better than in previous games.
* Fan favourite characters are coming back!
* Ability limitations!
* Attribute allocation limitations!
* Weapon limitations!
* Combat is flashy and over the top just like in DA2.

Are you ******* kidding me?

"or are there actually people out there still able to maintain composure?"

I was really hyped for this not long ago, but it seemed to have peaked... i was thinking about the game all the time but now i rarely am. Its good i think, let the hype levels drop a little, being overhyped seems to always lead to disappointment in my experience.

You talk as if something you dislike is always a game-breaking feature. I dislike the last two items on your list quite a bit, and I certainly won't keep silent about that fact, but to say that DAI will be seriously flawed as a whole because of them, that I can't understand.

Seriously, people need to get away from the mindset "If it doesn't 100% cater to my preferences, it's broken". I have my pet peeve that will break the game for me if handled in an unsatisfactory way, but it's one feature and it's story-related.

I'm excited, but I'm keeping my expectations in check. They've been very open about changes and answering concerns about various mechanics. Which is awesome. But I still don't want to hit 'MAXIMUM OVERHYPE!!!!!'

The only other game I seem to be able to play for any length of time atm is Diablo 3, and that's just because I can hop on, do a rift or two and then logout to keep my eye on DA:I, I've never been a patient person really.  I have a big thing coming up on the 25th and I feel ashamed that I'd much rather play DA:I than do it haha.  In fact before the delay I wasn't going to do it so in a way I saw the delay as a kind of weird blessing.  "Hell no!  I can't come and meet you lot I'll be playing DA:I, are you insane?!"

I was very hyped the past few days, coming onto this forum very often in fact. Sadly, I got into trouble today at work with my manager... A little distracted but I'm still here =].

My hype level will hit maximum when I finally get my copy in my hands at the store. Then again at home when I'm tearing off the plastic wrapping and opening the case, and again when I'm installing it. And then the huge epic finish when I'm finally playing it for the first time.

It's like multiple orgasms.

Hahaha no.  It's FFXIV Fan Fest at which I'm meeting up with a bunch of my Free Company peeps, coming from all over Europe and one even coming from Canada, they know about my DA obssession though, so I don't think they would have been surprised if I'd stayed at home PLaying DA:I lol.

I'll reserve the orgasms for after I've seen the whole story

Otherwise, I'll keep my composure until the game's available, but waiting for the download to finish is going to be like waiting for my next fix with trembling hands.

Im a sad, sad bunny, but thoroughly enjoying it

Am I hyped much, I am using the excuse of trying to get it in my head how my Inquisitors will look so I'll be able to hopefully zip through the CC a lot quicker than I most likely will so I can get to actually playing the game quicker and right now my feet and body are totally floating within the rift just waiting to land in Thedas having acknowledged that this world is plummeting into the abyss and so I have leapt without hesitation and faith that I can fly into Thedas perfectly fine :D

I'm definitely hyped up, not the least of which because I've loved all of Bioware's latest offerings (yes, even DA2, though granted not as much as DAO... and ME3 was superb), and have no reason to feel apprehensive about DAI.

Furthermore, I'm liking the new directions they seem to be going with DAI (more exploration, deeper crafting)... and I was glad to see in the latest gameplay vids that the little things that were missing from DA2, like item descriptions, seem to be back in DAI. Yay. :)

What is with all the ME3 bashing? I must have played a different game because ME3 was the best game i've ever played, not just the best Bioware game, bar none. The ending sucked, and by that i mean after the scene with Admiral Anderson, so the last 5 minutes. However the other 40 hours or so were absultely spectacular, and i will not let 5 minutes spoil 3 games lol.

As for hype. I would say i am looking forward to it, simply because it's been a while since i had a new Bioware game to sink 50+ hrs into.

Nah, I'm not hyped at all. I just spend every waking moment on the forums for, um... research purposes.

I thought that. I was super hyped for guardians of the galaxy then got worried going in on release day at the cinema thinking "this won't be as good as i have made it out to be" then at the end i was thinking "omg how was that better than i expected!". Hype can in a lot of instances set you up for a dissapointment, but not always.

I was hyped in April. Now, I am just going about my tasks and life in general. I am totally prepared to play the living nugs out of this game once it is in my grubby hands.

I was pretty hyped for DA2 and ME 3. It didn't work out.

So now I can describe it more "cautiously optimistic".

I like that Dragon Age team didn't shut out fans and actually talk to us. Not just PR talk. I respect them for it.

I like what they show us so far. My greatest disappointment is 8 abilities restriction. I like to experiment during combat, and it doesn't look reassuring, especially for mages. But we have to wait and see how it works. Looks like the combat system was changed a lot.

My greatest fear is that DA:I, ambitious project as it is, will fail because it tries to do a lot of things (exploration, agents, Skyhold, new combat system without healing and whatnot), while storyline and roleplaying will be subpar (example: railroading to the End of Doom, autodialogue, forcing to choose outcomes I will hate).

Nope, worst thing you can do to a game is be over-hyped about it.    Think of all the disappointment that DA2 brought with it.    It really wasn't that DA2 was an awful game, it the bigger picture of gaming it was pretty decent actually.    However, it was a pale comparison to its predecessor and the hype machine they generated for it made the pain of that reality into the perception that DA2 was horrid.

As developers expand a game, they generally end up seeking a shallower product that will reach more people.   Not saying this is a rule without exception, but its a pretty good rule to keep in mind when managing your expectations.    Can't think of too many (any?) games series that grew in both popularity and depth together.

ME3 was good as a game, but it had several critical flaws in storytelling and roleplaying, and one thematic aspect I personally found unpleasant, and where they were present, the game ended up worse than my worst expectations. That's what I referred to in my post. Those points were character-derailing autodialogue, drama over consistency, butchering interesting lore for the sake of pushing the heroic sacrifice theme, and the ending.

Obviously I can't say much about DAI in that regard as yet, but the latest video shows two opportunities to express how I feel about something important to the story. ME3 invoked StupidShep instead: "The Citadel? The fight's here". Worst. Line. Ever.

Yeah, there's a world of difference here if that trend continues.

I'm not really hyped, just annoyed. I accept that marketing the product is pretty much a given these days with a franchise a big as this. But then you realise that the game could of been out 2-3 months quicker without all this song and dance made around it.

Not worried too much after watching the latest vids and doing a run through of Origins. The reason being that the vid they did yesterday felt a lot closer, at least the way it looked, to Origins than DA2 and that, in my opinion, is a good thing.

Origins was not open world but it had more options for moving around, more variety in settings and in that regard this new game looks very similar and improved. I also like the tactical view in Origins and it's return in this game is a positive. I think this game is going to do fine.

If I have one small concern it's that while they are pushing AMD cards I would hope this game doesn't give any trouble to those of us using Nvidia as bad performance upon launch could alienate many whatever good story or mechanics there are in the game.

I've kept myself away on purpose, so my hype levels is only now surging. I will be leaving just before release to keep spoilers at bay as well, but I can say that while I am hyped I am not over the top just yet. But give me another couple of weeks and I'll be there. :P Just in time!
