Anyone pick this one up? I'm looking into it and I hear enough negative reports to give me concerns.

Loved the first 2, but could tell from early previews that the Pre-Sequel wouldn't be revolutionizing the formula. Metacritic's ringing at 75. Ain't Bad, Ain't Legendary.

Sounds like it's more Borderlands with a few new tricks, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I'm not really interested in Jack's story but might just play it for the other characters.

Based on reviews it's sounding like the game is overall good with some interesting new mechanics but the humour isn't quite there since it was made by a different studio.  Pacing is also a little off balance as well from reviews.

 

I'm gonna wait for more to come out but I will admit I always wait for complete collections to be released when it comes to Borderlands due to all the DLC they release.

If you loved Borderlands or Borderlands 2, there's nothing I'll tell you which will say that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel isn't a game you'll enjoy as well.

- You shoot things
- They die
- They drop loot
- You keep killing more things, getting better loot and rinse/repeat.

However, if you're new to the Borderlands series, I cannot recommend the game at this time.
- The pacing is horrible. Not Final Fantasy XIII horrible, but the first 4-6 hours of the game it'll be holding your hand
- The environments are, well, as boring as in Borderlands 1. You'll be looking at grey moon for nearly the entire game.
- There are game breaking bugs, to include a main story mission in which you take a lift to the 2nd floor of a building. If you get knocked off said 2nd floor, there is currently no way to get back up. Since it's a main story mission, you can't proceed (unless it's patched later). So your only option is to restart with a new character. This is completely unacceptable in 2014, not to mention Borderlands 1 and 2 had the same issues with missions that would become broken.
- The gameplay gets way, way too chaotic, and with many of the action skills this time around, so much is flashing on the screen (especially with ClapTrap) you don't always know what in the **** is hitting you, and then you're in FFYL and dead.
- The story. Nothing even close to Borderlands 2. But it is better than Borderlands 1, I'll give it that. They had quite the potential to show Jack's rise to power, but it just falls flat.

So, in closing:
- You're a huge Borderlands honk who can't get enough. Raise this to 9/10.
- You're someone who has never played Borderlands. 5/10, take $20 and wait for the GOTY edition to go on sale for Borderlands 2. You'll get 50-70 hours of content and a much, MUCH better game for you.

 

I guess I wait for a patch and play Wastelands 2 instead.

Definitely waiting for steam sale. I liked BL1 and loved BL2, but if TPS is more bland and less funny than BL2 then I'm gonna wait it out.

How long is TPS compared to BL2 (without DLC)? I've heard that it's a bit shorter and has less content. Can anyone here confirm?

I just got it today and I'm enjoying playing the game so far...still trying to figure out how to butt stomp though. XD

I wonder with the humour, if it is still there but is Australian humour and kind of wasted/not understood by anyone from overseas.
