It's hard for me to predict for DA:I, since they don't seem as trapped in their roles, but I'm going to guess:

DAA: Sadly, the order in which you recruit your companions determines how much you're going to use them.

         Most used: Nathaniel, Anders, Sigrun/Velanna.

         Least used: Justice (because I tend to do the Blackmarsh last)

 

DA2: Used everyone pretty equally.

 

DAI: I will likely use everyone pretty equally.

It's hard for me to predict for DA:I but here I go!

 

Most Used - Cole fo sho! No idea past that but I reeeeeaalllly like Iron Bull and Solas.

Neglected: Viv and Sera because I get the feeling the latter is gonna ****** me off and the former will just betray me at some point.

Again sigrun was a copy and you get nathaniel first anyway. Justice is ugly as hell and Oghren I sometimes forget about.

Seems like the most used characters are Alistair/Morrigan (DAO), Anders (DAA) and Aveline/Varric (DA2).

Re DAI, difficult to say because you don't know how the companions will be and how they will grow. But as I will be playing a mage first, more than than likely Varric, Blackwall and either Cole or Sera.

          Neglected: Vivienne (playing as a mage on Nightmare with Dorian, will be hard enough to find some time with Solas) and Blackwall (I very rarely have more than one melee character and he just hasn't caught my interest yet)

I am really surprised at the wide variety of favourite companions in this thread, it only goes to show Bioware has it's ducks in a row as far as companions are concerned.

 

The following choices are made with the majority of play throughs in mind.

Flemeth Battle: Wynne, Shale

Deep Roads final: Oghren, Shale

 

Least used: Dog

Never used: Zevran (except for once where game inserts him)

I can't remember? Morrigan wasn't used due a lot her personality in DA:O,despite romancing her. As for DA:2 I can't remember,but it may be the emotional buddies.

Always.), Varric (However, if something going to happen with his character, just like Anders in DA2, then I'll switch him to Sera), Iron Bull or Cassandra for tanking (Iron Bull, because he's funny, Cass, because I want to hear her banter with Varric.)

Left behind: Vivienne definitely. I'm not really fond of her personality, but everything can change. Before playing DA2 I hated Fenris, but now he's my most used tank.
