I'll read reviews, but since I wanted the Inquisitor's Edition I've already preordered the game. Worst that can happen is I'm the owner of a pretty freaking sweet Dragon Age themed box 'o loot ![]()
Will anyone read reviews before buying?

Make it 17. I liked DA2.
I considered waiting for reviews until I remembered that when ME3 came out they said they said over 75 perfect reviews, or something like that. Even knowing nothing about the ending I found that hard to get excited for. I find perfect reviews hard to believe. Even after ME3 was out for a while there were some that liked the endings and some that didn't. Which reviews to go by? I'll read reviews on something I'm thinking about buying if it's been out for a while, both good and bad ones, to get an idea. However, if it's something I'm really interested in I'll buy it anyway and just use the reviews to maybe determine my expectations.
Yeah that kind of ad is why I will wait for actual customer reviews...

I can wait for reviews. I'm still somewhat terrified of something dreadfully wrong with the game.

Nope. Going to get this game day #1 no matter what I hear.
The only game/franchise I'll ever read up on before release will be anything coming from Lionhead. Fable has gone down the drain so much, that I can't ever trust them. But that's off topic I guess.

I preordered months ago. I'll happily be everyone's guinea pig. No need for reviews with me. ![]()

Nope I'm happy with preordering, Bioware honestly hasn't lost as many points with me as some people. DA2 wasn't great but it was good and while the last five minutes left a horrible after taste and an awful cap on the Trilogy I loved all of ME3 except for those 5 minutes. Also both get a relative free pass due to extraneous circumstances: DA-team simply bit off more than they could chew on DA2 with the development time they had and I'm pretty sure the story-leaks had some effect on ME3.

If you feel that way I'll look forward to your BSN non-spoilery review to pop up in the threads!

Yeah, general public reviews comes first before the purchase.
Can't have the buyers remorse again with DA2

Haha well if that happens that in itself is a sort of endorsement.

I personally won't but if you're on the fence go for it. Also if you are one of these people do yourself a favor and read more then one. Reviews are opinion pieces.

I'll watch youtube reviews and read some fan reviews.
**** professional gaming magazines, though. Pretty much none of them even mentioned the ME 3 ending. Hell, Kingdoms of ****** Amalur has an average rating of 81 on metacritic, with many popular gaming websites giving it 90+. If that's a 90, then even a 100 for DA:I would be utterly meaningless.

I read them on lots of games. With a game like Dragon Age Inquisition, that has a lot of media and attention around it, reviews will not affect my purchase at all. I will buy the game and play the hell out of it almost assuredly.
Take a game like Dragon's Dogma. I did not see a lot of information about it it had so so reviews. I was on the fence, but it just looked so intriguing. I read another review and in summary it said it was an ok game, but if you were a fan of fantasy RPGs, you would likely enjoy the game. I enjoyed the living hell out of Dragons Dogma.

Well, it HAS provoked a gigantic fan reaction.
Of course, they just conveniently left out the part that the fan reaction was not overwhelmingly positive to say the least. Half-truths are better than outright lies, that's public relations for you.
Hell, personally I had no major issues with Mass Effect 3 except the ending. Before that, it was a very enjoyable game with a decent story, great characters and much improved combat. The ending sucked balls, but that's not enough to make me swear off Bioware. DA2 would have been, if I didn't overwhelmingly like what I saw with Inquisition thus far.
In the end, what's important is making an informed purchase. I don't think pre-orders are bad by themselves, but you gotta do some research about the game and have a solid reason to back it pre-release. If you don't, and you get burned, well, too bad, but you kinda brought it on yourself unless the developpers pull an Aliens: Colonial Marines and just outright lie about the game. I didn't pre-order DA2 because pre-release info rubbed me the wrong way, despite loving Origins to death. But since I love or like damn near everything we know about Inquisition so far, apart from the 8 ability limit, I feel that I can very safely pre-order. And given the amount of footage we saw so far, I'm also pretty certain there's no vertical slicing or misleading marketing here.

I bought DA:O based on word of mouth. I had friends who kept talking about the game, and I wanted to try it for myself. I enjoyed the game, and have followed the franchise since. So I won't look for or listen to most reviews because I already made up my mind.
I do believe in word of mouth for games, and will tell of my experiences and enjoyment (or lack of) to friends. I am positive I'm going to have a good time.

I'll check comments and reviews the week after release to see if any super-annoying bugs or glitches exist. If there's anything too glaring or obnoxious, I'll wait for a patch before purchasing.
