'Nuff said. No reason why they can't do this... They did it for Mass Effect, so why not for Dragon Age as well.

They did do it for both Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Except A) It didn't actually work correctly, and 2) They couldn't cross-platform with it. Doing it this way will allow for a more accurate world state and for people to import to whatever platform they want to play on, even if they used a different platform for DAO or DA2.

If you don't have a computer or internet go to a library. Or just use your phone, problem solved.

True enough regarding cross platform play, however for what it is, and that's not to say it isn't impressive, it should be able to function offline after a download. Regular updates may be helpful, but largely, once it is accessible, downloaded or streamed, it's a checklist, or at least, the part of it that generates world states is a checklist. If there is a reason not to make it downloadable beyond the endeavor being time/cost prohibitive (or, of course, encouraging online use for the purposes of other transactions; it's business folks), it doesn't come to mind.

most consoles have internet capabilities, it seems pointless to make some sort of app version of it. most phones have internet browsing too, so you could just do it on your phone if its a matter of convenience.

This too, use the internet capabilities on your consoles.

There are no disadvantages to having the Keep as a website. But there are many advantages... It allows you to share out your world states with your friends and you are able to access it and use it in DAI no matter what platform you use. Also, there is no danger of you losing your precious save game files.

Now, it may be argued that some people may not have internet, but think about the logic of such an argument.

It would be like me demanding DAI is made a board game because I don't have a computer. Kinda silly, huh.

If you can download it to the console then obviously you have an internet connection and all the consoles come with an internet app so problem solved. You won't need to download it because its already usable without the need to do so.

That would negate its purpose as a permanent repository for your choices going forward.

OP doesn't seem to know how it functions.. Else they wouldn't ask this.

It doesn't work like Mass Effect Genesis.

Yeah, it is a completely different system than the Mass Effect thing. The most important thing is litereally hundreds of decisions you can make on the Keep instead of like 30is maybe. Also the fact they are able to usethe Keep website and port your decisions to 5 different platforms is outstanding! There would be so much more time and money trying to create that for each individual console. I see nothing that would give a valid reason for the creation of a console app.

I think there's something to be said for it being it's own client, considering how universally and unflinchingly garbage Battlelog has been. Still, it's not as much of an issue as Battlelog, because at least for the moment it's not breaking any functions and there's not really a situation in which that would be much of a concern. We'll see if it holds up when everyone is trying to use it in a couple weeks. In theory this will launch early, so it shouldn't be a problem when the game releases, but if I can't pull my characters at launch I'm gonna be more than a little perturbed.

Ya know consoles have Web browsers. You can just use that and pretend it's downloaded.

If you can use this website you can use the Keep. It's that easy.

Except that it's not just* a checklist fortlowe, it's a checklist that can be exported to 5 different systems that doesn't require cowtowing to the platform owners(Sony/Microsoft) can be updated at any time via bioware without restrictive patch sizes and will be useable for any future games as opposed to creating 5 new downloadable apps for the systems.

Uh... console players can't use the Keep?

That seems... unwise. I definitely won't be picking it up for console until consoles have access to The Keep.

I'm not following this "just do this and it works" set of suggestions people are making. How exactly would I make The Keep communicate with the console version of DA:I if it can't be imported for the console version of DA:I?

I'm obviously not understanding something...

Maybe the part where you connect the console to the internet? The Keep itself doesn't download to anything, but the world-states it generates do.

Yes you are making it more complicated then it is , people who want The Keep as a DLC or in the game itself are making it too complicated as well . You already have an Origin account , the Keep will be connected to your account so all you have to do is make your choices and use that import for your new DAI game . On your console or PC you have to log into your Origin account , your import will be waiting for you to start your new game that's it !
