depends on the job.

In something like the oil and gas industry that could prevent you from getting another job in the field

Somewhere like walmart? No one really cares or is surprised. Unless you're like me and managed to bring your entire department with you ;)

It's always good to leave on good terms if possible. For one you may need a job with them again, 2nd it's better for the resume.

Yeah, I've done that before. Back when I worked for a particular retail store that starts with an S. Woke up one day and just said f*ck it. I didn't even give them a two week notice.

It's not like you can be thrown in prison for walking out on a shitty job. I haven't noticed any repercussions since leaving, but I'd say just leave it off your resume and you'll probably be fine.

Yes.  I was a private-duty nurse working on location assignment for a special snowflake.  His family yelled at and pushed (not kicked) the dog until the dog's owner called a stop.  The family then started on me.  I was travelling two hours to be there and was staying in a hotel to avoid long commutes.  When the matriarch marched in and started throwing things around, I finished my shift and found another job.  Some people need to be left to their own devices.

Did it before when I was a dishwasher.

Boss screamed her head off at me.

I looked her straight in the face, said "Nope" and walked out.

Though, I did come back after she was fired the next day when her boss heard what she did.

meh....more jobs than I want to admit. I have a very low tolerance for crap in the work place. Lucky I've had no problems finding work but I don't recommend my methods for everyone.;

Once .. I was working at that place for over a years when I was 20. Doing night shift. It was around 11 Pm when I left. I had a strong argument with a co-worker who was my immediate ''captain'' ( we were only 5 in the work place. Was working in the industrial districk). I was in a shitty mood that day. A lot of thing was happening in my life and it just exploded. ( That what happens when you trap everything inside and you feel powerless about what happens to you)

So She yelled and I yelled back and I left ..  Knocked the door a bit too hard .. Anyway .. I walked back to my appartement lol. Because I was so angry. My head was spinning and I needed the fresh air. Next day The big boss called and wanted to have a head to head discussion. I was good at this job though and very productive plus my co-worker was known to be a ******. Never called back. Do I regret it ? Today yes. I was only 20 though.

Don't regret these things. There are A LOT worse things a person can do.

I walked out on a job once because I was tired of doing the same boring stuff, but then I remembered I was the boss and I walked right back in.

At the end of a thirteen hour shift that I had to take since two other people quit, as I'm leaving, my manager asks me to clean the bathroom. This was pretty much my response:

Oh come on, you know the cure for that, it's like herpes: spread it around!

Worked as a web application Java developer for a good company in my town. The pay and contract terms were awesome, but I just wasn't interested in the job and the lead seems like he had a problem with me and my opinions. Left the company,worked contract for a few months as a protocol reverse engineer and then found a job with another company in town as a Web back-end developer. Love the job and appreciated for my work
