I actually had a discussion about this before. Don't you think Fiona wouldn't be at the summit since for all we know she is the only Grand Enchanter with any military experience and therefore she is invaluable to a military effort.

 

It just seems more likely that Rhys dies at the summit and Fiona is with the Mage troops in case something like this happens.

Hawke reportedly "dies" in the blast but you later find them towards the end of the game in the Fade because of course they've been staying alive in the Fade for months on end. They're Hawke.

I'm guessing all/most of the moderates from both sides of the war, leaving extreamists in charge , accelerating the war and making it harder for peace to be made. When you think about it the peace conference would be contended by leaders of both sides who at least considered peace while extreamists would shun it and not attend. I have my own little theory that the elder one is trying to fuel the war prehaps to make the veil more unstable or something .

It's then revealed that time is screwed up in the Fade and the darkspawn were actually created by Hawke time-travelling back and meandering into the Black City on an afternoon stroll.
