I hardly think Hawke is a Mary Sue. Or the Warden. They were swallowed by outside events. As much amazing feats that they did, they are ultimately powerless and don't control their own fate. Hawke moreso. They're not exactly player centric player characters. The story controls them instead.

The Divine is obivious, heck they've indirectly confirmed it in a stream. Fiona is unlikely, while I don't hate her like a lot of people do, she just doesn't seem the type to go to that meeting. She doesn't seem to hold the divine in high regard  and more importantly, after the White Spire I doubt they would want to put someone that important in a vulnerable position.

Hopefully Fiona. Then Alistair will be oblivious for the rest of his life.

Fist Enchanter Irving, Knight Commander Greagoir.

I hope they are not going to kill Evangeline or Rhys off.

I hope not either but they might be there when the explosion happens..maybe that's the reason why Cole joins the inquisition. It's just a guess though. :)

I'm guessing all/most of the moderates from both sides of the war, leaving extreamists in charge , accelerating the war and making it harder for peace to be made. When you think about it the peace conference would be contended by leaders of both sides who at least considered peace while extreamists would shun it and not attend. I have my own little theory that the elder one is trying to fuel the war prehaps to make the veil more unstable or something .

Which is why the extremists would be present as they'd be trying to undermine their political rivals.

Nug #14. RIP in pieces

'RIP in pieces' makes no sense unless Nug #14 is in fact resting in several pieces in which case, the b****** who killed it is one sick f*****.

Millitary experience? She was part of a small unit of grey wardens. She's a soldier not a commander. I can't see where she would obtain any real strategic or tactical skills.

All warden are trained in the art of war. we know this, they all might not be commanders but they all go through extreme training. and I'm still pretty sure she is the close they have to a military commander. Also she went with a small group of Grey warden into the Deep Roads. she was part of the Orlesian Grey wardens who aren't exactly the small fighting force of Ferelden.

Are you really arguing she isn't combat trained, which a group of rebels must learn so they can learn how to actually fight.

Actually, we know that particular plot point will be adressed in the game... so I don't think Fiona will die in the beginning.

Or.. he could just get a letter that says. "Your real mom died."  ^_^

Both male and female Hawke are definitely Mary Sue/Gary Stu characters.  How can they be anything else, given their default names?

...Surely I wasn't the only one who snorted at the defaults being Marian and Garrett.  I mean, c'mon.   :P

EDIT: As for who will die, is it bad that I'm really hoping for the Treyvalen Quizzy's sibling to bite it?  Perhaps after a confrontational fight with their templar/mage sibling before the Big Bang?  I *heart* angst.

I think you're joking.. but I like to think Marian and Garrett for chosen for being Ferelden-ish names. And the meaning behind them. Garrett meaning "rules with the spear". Kind of appropriate for their trailer character. Marian has unknown meanings. "Sea of sorrow" or "lady of the sea".

Anyways.. I think Mary Sues are more like Wesley Crusher in Star Trek. The person who always does everything right, who everyone loves and respects, and instantly solves problems.

But Wesley didn't always do everything right and at some point everyone lost respect for him.

Actually your definition of Mary Sue encompasses Captain Picard as well as Wesley.

That's because Roddenberry died and the other writers wanted to get rid of Wes.. he was more Gene's thing.

Or so I heard.

But he was already gone by then. They had to bring him back just for that episode. I guess they just wanted to defame his character before the series was over and they lost their chance.

It isn't that I love Wesley, but outside of the first episode he was an ok character.

I actually watched it again recently. It's not so bad a sendoff.. somewhat of a respectful dismissal. He's "human" again. That's better than being a Mary Sue.

But anyways.. I don't think Hawke or the Warden qualifies (maybe the Warden does a bit more). I think a lot of things go wrong with their lives, and sometimes can only make the best of bad situations. Not really solve them.

I am kinda hoping we won't see any Trevelyan family members.

Yeah, Hawke's completely trashed his nice Black City.

By accident, of course. She just happened to be there when her presence would trigger a disaster.

"Dear Hawke,

A nice Fade Spirit known as the Elder One has promised to help me fix that mirror. He said there's not enough lyrium in all of Kirkwall for the ritual though, so I've set off for the Temple of the Urn of Sacred Ashes. Don't worry. I know what I'm doing.
