Hawke - the ultimate weapon against the Elder One! :D

"Elder One, I'm here to join you and help you take over the world and stuff!"
"Uhhh... thanks, but that's really not necessary..."
"Oh, but I insist!"

(The Elder One's plans go down in flames)

....and Zaeed Hawke was the only one who made it out alive

(I may be making fun of this, but I really liked this refreshing setup. Hawke isn't inept or anything, they're just carrying a ton of bad luck around. Just surviving is an achievement)

Yeah neither Hawke or the Warden are there and neither are our LIs, as the entire plot of Dragon Age 2 is that Hawke and the Warden are nowhere to be found. As for who dies there The Divine is dead I'm sure along with all the members of the Chantry that support Justina's placement of Leliana and Cassandra, as a big point for the Hero of Thedas was that the Chantry is considering the Hero a blasphemer (which Justina would not of done).

Who ees dis man Tea-gon? *BOOM*

Plot Twist: The Elder One was merely so pissed off at Isolde for having such a nerve-wracking accent. Hence the explosion.

Then The Elder One got so confused that they thought she's not dead yet and continued to destroy Thedas. The Inquisitor actually has to find TEO and tell him that she's dead and nothing more.

All warden are trained in the art of war. we know this, they all might not be commanders but they all go through extreme training. and I'm still pretty sure she is the close they have to a military commander. Also she went with a small group of Grey warden into the Deep Roads. she was part of the Orlesian Grey wardens who aren't exactly the small fighting force of Ferelden.

Are you really arguing she isn't combat trained, which a group of rebels must learn so they can learn how to actually fight.

I don't doubt she is combat trained and knows perhaps some small unit tactics (5 people) but she has no experience leading an army and I doubt any real knowledge of proper strategy or large scale tactics.
If there were 5 mages in thedas then yeah fine, but since there is thousands and they seem to all be fighting it out in the hinterlands the yeah she isn't as valuable as you make out. An actual millitary general would be much more useful.

So you'd kill off Barkspawn, Schmooples and Ser Pounce-a-lot in the blast?

You're evil.

You're still evil for even suggesting that as a possibility.

Sadly Geralt of Rivia wouldn't die in the blast. Death just isn't that friggen lucky and he just keeps surviving those "and everybody died" moments.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Gary (Stu) and Mary (Sue) being potential nicknames for Garrett and Marian. Always struck me as a little too coincidental.

...Seriously? Only me?

You train a soldier to fight in a unit and to learn how to fight with whole armies. i doubt the grey warden train their people to exclusively learn just how to work in small group otherwise you wouldn't see Warden Commanders like Genevieve or Duncan who come with no prior experience so they must teach you the basic to commanding. otherwise all their commanders would have to have outside knowledge. Or what about Loghain he never went to a officer training school but still became the commander of the rebel forces, and he was only trained by a sergeant(his father) while Fiona was recruited in to the grey warden where they have actual instructors, so if they are going to teach you how to kill, work in units or companies, most likely they'll teach you how to lead too, just in case high ranking officer die. or do you think the warden just don't teach their soldiers anything of real importance besides killing.

And even if she did only know how to command 5 troops, she is still the only Grand Enchanter with any real combat experience. so she has the experience to lead a entire circle and then become a grand enchanter, and she has real combat experience. sounds like the best commander the mage's are going to get out of their rebellion

I think you are looking too deep into a coincident.

She has leadership skills, and she has combat knowledge...  All she is missing is some tactical capability so if she is naturally skilled in that area or using her various knowledge expertises to her advantage then she could potentially be a very capable military leader.  some can argue that being a peacetime leader can be more difficult than being a war leader.

Now that you say it....LOL. However, badass as they are, Hawke is less that than most other recent Bioware protagonists. Nobody with that kind of bad luck would be. And if I'm not mistaken, DAI will push that to eleven...and then some.

But we don't know if the most elite fighting force in thedas does or does not trains their recruits in military tactics. but otherwise that's my exact point, Templars are trained to hunt, kill, and work as battalions, Circle Mage's are not taught that way and when the special few get to go on military campaigns they aren't used that way, merely as healers or artillery, so for all we know, she could be their only Military leader, or at least the only one who knew the reality of a military campaign.

And that's why i can't see her going to the summit because they can't lose someone like that. But Rhys(now don't go thinking i want him dead because he was actually one of my favorite characters in Asunder) who is the Spokeperson for the Aequitarians so i don't know why he wouldn't be there, or at least why he wasn't invited. And his vote is which also broke the stalemate so his vote caused the war. Unlike Fiona, i can't find one logical reason why he wouldn't be there.

We usually always have this one First Companion Who Is To Die like Tamlen and Leroy J. and Mhairi

Though I suspect this won't be the case this time

If it was deliberate it was deliberately ironic. Hawke is pretty much the least Gary Stu/Mary Sue of any BioWare protagonist ever. They aren't special, nobody really listens to them, and the world just falls apart around them while they're powerless to stop it. The best Hawke can hope for, like most real people, is being able to influence those closest to them.
