The Inquisitor! Ohhh plot twist!!
Yeah man, I'm expecting a "dead all along" plot twist.

I wouldn't consider Hawke a Mary (or Marty) Sue. Sure, he kicks the crap out of every enemy that comes his way, but he mostly fails at trying to resolve every crisis that faces Kirkwall.

If Hawke was a Mary Sue then they would have been able to save Carver/Bethany during the prologue, beign able to stop sister patrice right away, prevent their mother's death, prevent the Arisok from attacking Kirkwall and would be able to prevent the mage/templar war.

As long as Merrill survives the rest of Thedas can burn and I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Basically how I feel as well!

If you play as a human rogue or warrior, you're there assisting your family for the talks... So your family will die. (Kind of like the noble from Origins. Your whole family dies, except for your brother who shows up at the end.)

"Dear Hawke, A nice Fade Spirit known as the Elder One has promised to help me fix that mirror. He said there's not enough lyrium in all of Kirkwall for the ritual though, so I've set off for the Temple of the Urn of Sacred Ashes. Don't worry. I know what I'm doing. ---Merrill"
OMG i sooo would not be surprised by this!!!!!! That ignorant little...... elf.....

Me too, but there was a scene in one of the very first trailers which made me nervous; you could see Varric caressing a shrouded corpse's head which was very petite, and I just thought:"Oh, no, not Merril..." ![]()

I don't know about Merrill. Why would she be there and with whom? She's a pariah to her people. And too... scatterbrained and seemingly minor.... to somehow manage to get there on her own merits.

I don't imagine Evangeline is gonna die there. Unless they want to make the whole thing with Wynne feel pretty much pointless.

I'm hopping on the "dead all along" idea as well, only because everything's looked a bit too good and I'm expecting an ending that will ruin this game and subsequently my life (love ya Bioware). Although I think the Inquisitor does live to the end, or so I've heard...
But yeah, the Trevelyan family probably dies... boo.

My guess is it's the Warden or a tower guard, depending.

Didnt you know.......everything, everyone dies. Even those claimed unkillable......geralt, mario, everyone.
Cause its an earth shattering kaboom!.....OOPS!
Its a Thedas shattering kaboom! Now the others can survive cause it was only Thedas right there, this time.
Till Marvin meets the rest....
and yeah, Im trolling in this thread.
its fun!

Rhys and Evangeline will likely be kept alive for Cole's personal quest, or at least one of them will. I could see one of them dying, but I hope they get a better exit than the Fade Blast if they do.

Yes I've seen that scene as well and it has really got me worried that she's not going to make it.

Oh no! All my relatives who were at the conference died?! Oh my poor human mage male. Alright grief over. Retirement plan. Become heir to House Trevelyan, take over Ostwick then rule The Fade and Thedas as a god.
You're a mage. They disowned you long ago. You won't even get past the gates of the estate. ![]()

Gate meet fireball. Fireball meet gate.
They're a Templar family. They've got tricks up their sleeves, I bet.

Seriously, I bet on...
Side of Mage: Irvin, Conor?, Lanaya Emile de Launcet if Hawke was in the mage side in Kirkwall, he become the new first enchenter. other first enchenters , Bethany Hawke if she is not with the Warden, Jowan and .....Anders.
Side of Templar; Knight Commander Greagoir, Carver Hawke if he is a templar, Evangeline ( it is the reason why Cole assists the Inquisitor), Ser Guvan
Neutral side: The Divine?, Iarl Eamon, Isolde, Mayor Murdock, Iarl Teagan, Senechal Bran,...
Bioware told that some revelation about Mother/son with Fiona and Alisatir will be done in DAI, so Alistair will be alive because he doesn't know who is really his mother. Except Fiona nobody alive knows that Alistair is her son=> Fiona is alive also.
