The Templars will probably say "Kill THAT Mage" while pointing at anders. and the Mages will be all discussiony, and than KABOOM!!!!! SHAKALAK-TADA!!!! fade rift.
That, is a totally possible scenario.
Doesn't your friend as dwarf commoner make it out alive if you save him?
No temporary companion dies at the beginning of the BG series (Gorion doesn't count, you never got to control him). Yoshimo dies, but that's halfway through BG2.
I don't think anyone dies at the beginning of JE, either.
Other than that, yeah, Bioware always kills off one temporary party member at the beginning of each game. Who will it be here? Whoever joins our party, at the beginning, and wasn't lauded as a companion in the trailers/game info/etc.
Or, you know, everyone at the meeting.
Exposition/Friend character
Various Political leaders (Teagan, perhaps?)
Mage/Templar Moderates (Various book characters who will make cameo appearances)
Divine Justinia
Divine Justinia feels like a given, Fiona (I don't get the hate she gets, I don't see her as a Mary Sue at all, Katriel is a far worse Mary Sue in my opinion), the new Lord Seeker perhaps? A Knight-Commander of sorts?
Some nobles I would assume.
I really hope that Teagan doesn't die, but maybe this is where Eamon dies?
Chalk me up for another person who doesn't hate Fiona - if she was a Mary Sue before, I think they kind of took that shine off her by the end of Asunder. I'm kind of hoping to see her.
And as for her fate, I'm guessing you guys don't pay too close attention in the Dev's twitch streams of gameplay.
(Spoiler box for the recent Skyhold tour twitch stream.)
As for Justinia V....
(Spoiler box for the advisers-profile stream - the one that showed off adviser missions in the war tent)

I don't think she would go to a peace summit, considering she is a valuable asset and was the one who wanted to push for war so i don't think she would go to a peace summit. maybe Rhys would be there. But that's just because he is the spokes person of the Aequitarians.
Also i also for one hope Teagan is alive and is just in haven or still in Orlais or some excuse so he can stay alive
or at least i hope.
I don't doubt she is combat trained and knows perhaps some small unit tactics (5 people) but she has no experience leading an army and I doubt any real knowledge of proper strategy or large scale tactics.
If there were 5 mages in thedas then yeah fine, but since there is thousands and they seem to all be fighting it out in the hinterlands the yeah she isn't as valuable as you make out. An actual millitary general would be much more useful.
Indeed Fiona ain't Sophia Dryden...
So all the survivors live on ![]()
Indeed Fiona ain't Sophia Dryden...
Sophia Dryden was taught by the warden's how to command troops. why would Fiona be any different? They are a Huge elite military, who takes many non military recruits, so they have to teach them otherwise their commanders would all be ex Officers from (Insert nations) but since we know they aren't. (Duncan, Genevieve, Bregan, Sophia,) they must trained how to command, like you would train any recruit in any commissioned military force, you teach them to lead even if they never will.
And fiona proves she can lead since she has become a grand enchanter. Also even if she only knew how to command 5 people. that's still more than any other mage in the rebellion.
I forget where I read it but there was something I read a long time ago that said there was only really 3 ways to start a story that would immediately hook the reader: wtih comedy, action, or tragedy.
Bioware really seems to love the tragedy route.
I agree in that I think it will be some temporary companion that we get in the prologue. There were a couple prologues in Origins that our temporary companion didn't die in however. But, sense there were no origins, in DA2 you were guaranteed a death of a sibling. I'm wondering if this is also going to be a mixture of both games, and that this 'cataclysmic event' that happens kills your temporary companion no matter what origin you choose for dramatic effect.
The Inquisitor! Ohhh plot twist!!
the whole game is a dream? i like it.

She's the biggest cheese in the mage hierarchy. Her presence in a summit deciding the terms of peace is kind of expected.
Hopefully, Fiona.
With my luck, not Fiona.

She is the only mage with military experience. she doesn't wish to be part of the chantry. i doubt the mage rebellion would have her go even if she is "the biggest cheese" i would see Rhys going in her place because he broke the stalemate the Enchanters vote on war and is the Spokesman for the Aeqiutarians which is the most prevalent mage fraternity.
Also would you send all your enchanters/commanders to a summit which might end in blood or a trap? I wouldn't,
Anders.....The bastard that started the whole thing
Tallis maybe?
The people who die will probably be all the people who want a peaceful end to the many, many wars that all seem to be happening at once
The Inquisition is the world's last resort

She may not wish to be part of the Chantry, but I can't imagine she wants total war for all mages for all eternity either. A peace summit would allow her to push forward the agenda of free mages without getting hunted down by templars.
And for that, she needs to be present. Otherwise she risks her points being brushed of the table due to a lack of sincerity/cowardice/suspicion/insert excuse here.
What if in a Plot twist we discover that the Inquisitor has been dead all along and it happened during the explosion.
Along with the Inquisitor we play as has not been the Inquisitor at all but a Spirit from the Fade that possessed the Inquisitor's body after his or her death and the only reason he or she has the Inquisitor's memories is because the Spirit obtained the Inquisitor's memories when it possessed his or her body just like how Justice obtained the memories of Kristoff's life when he was in Kristoff's body.
(nah that would too cheap of a plot twist to reveal that the Inquisitor has been dead the entire time and we have actually been playing as a Spirit)

That might have some interesting ideas though. What if by the endagme your ideal/emotion is taking over and you're fighting to remain in control and not give into urges you know wouldn't advance your cause? Or you're an abomination and the spirit inside you is definitely not on your side, either constantly trying to tempt you over to the Elder One's side or just trying to get you killed.
Or anyone remotely related/connected to Sean beans character, they either die or worse. If Sean Bean voices any character, then that one.
If your the commoner then no, if your any other origin then yes.Doesn't your friend as dwarf commoner make it out alive if you save him?
