The Dalish, the Carta(commoner), The Human Noble, and potentially the Mage origins all kill one of your temp companions. Dwarf Noble, and City elf they survive.

If Rhys does die I hope its a few moments after approaching my young Mage and telling him
the vast amounts of potential he sees within him. "You're gonna go far kid."
THEN BLOOOOOMMM

It's unlikely Iron Bull's Mercenaries Die. In that recent clip showing him, Dorian, and Sera off a little he made a direct quote of "Well You've seen us fight. But we don't come cheap." Suggesting you actually incorporate his mercenaries into the Inquisition as part of recruiting him.

As the youngest child of the Trevelyan noble house, you grew up in the Free Marcher city of Ostwick and have enjoyed a life of privilege. With close family ties to the Chantry, and many relatives among the priesthood and the templars, you were always expected to follow a similar path in service of the Maker—regardless of how you feel about the matter personally. Willing or unwilling, you were sent to the Chantry's conclave to assist relatives who sought to make peace between the templars and mages.(( <-- These guys Die)) It didn't go well.

We know that many important People will die At the beginning of the Game. It is almost certain that one of them will be Justinia V. Do you have any other types?
Are we making a deadpool? I doubt we can bet with Bioware points.

I didnt know that we knew important people will die at the beginning but if so it'll likely be IMO:
Moderates on both sides
The Warden
Whoever the ruler/s of Ferelden might be
Hawkes love interest (Though I hope not, don't want Fenris to die)
Tho Allisters VA said he was doing voice work for DAI ages ago, wouldnt it be pointless for like, three lines of diologue?

LOL, it's hilarious to realize how much of a fixture this has been in Bioware's games ever since BG1. Perhaps someone can fill in the games I don't know:
BG1: Gorion
BG2: Khalid
KoTOR: I don't recall, but there was someone.
DAO: Daveth and Jory
DA2: Bethany or Carver
ME1: Jenkins
ME2: Wilson
ME3: a nameless child.

BG2 actually has no temp party members that die. They are all dead before you start the game. Part of the horror story beginning it has. I find it more interesting that Khalid dies at the beginning of BG2 when I have always chunked him in the beginning of BG1 so that I could keep Jaheera without having him as well. It suited my party makeup better.
Gorion I would say counts but on a technical level to start the trend. you never actually have any control over him and it's a scripted battle and he's never actually flagged as a party member either. He's a blue circle tag along. But the tone of it and everything makes it clear he's with you and he's only supposed to go with you a short overall distance before the whole situation gets interrupted and he gets left behind to die.
NWN doesn't have any temp companion deaths at the beginning of the story either but it also starts in another tense horror story style moment with a lot of incidental deaths to the base storyline to get you going and filled with a sense of urgency.

I hope Bioware doesn't RW everything right at the beginning: We've spent two games getting to know Thedas and the people in it, I don't want all of them to die in an unavoidable blast just as the game starts. If the Divine must die, so be it. It makes sense for the story. Even Rhys dying could make sense: Why else is Cole following us now? This is just speculation though.
But if they were to kill off someone like Evangeline I'd be mad. Wynne sacrificed herself for nothing? Or Fiona (whoever she is, I've only read Asunder+ME) who is basically leading the rebellion... That would suck. We need an Orsino/Meredith type character to represent a faction, instead of faceless "mages vs Templars".
So like I said, I hope they aren't killing off known characters purely for shock. If it makes sense for the story, fine. But if you're killing Bann Teagan just to get people saying "OMG but I liked him now I'm sad" then bleh.... Game of Thrones is enough sadness for me xD

KOTOR was Trask Ulgo.
DA:A: Mhairi
For ME3, an argument can be made for Anderson. He was a temporary companion at the beginning of the game, and the game kills him off.
