It would be, if they let us do what you can do in Sims 4: choose our walk animation.

i would love to have the male animation not only in the cutscene but in all the rest of the game too...the female animation is ridiculous.  -_-

How can I have a badass female character if she walk like she have scoliosis, or think more about fashion and being "sexy" (read ridicolous) than walk properly?

Dragon Age Inquisition is a cutscene heavy RPG. They day they let us choose our walk animations is the day we have a single race, single gendered protagonist.

They did the same with Femshep and it worked fine. Why should a woman have to walk differently than a man?

Then I guess the Inquisitor will have to start speaking gibberish Sim language, crying about the TV being sold, and dying when the pool ladder is removed.

Can't wait for the day they decide to apply motion capture to the gameplay. The dreadfulness of the female animation will instantly get sorted out as the character performs real human movements as opposed to someone's ideas about how women are or should be.

There are some differences in walking due to hips etc. However, a neutral shared animation is a lot closer to reality than the aberrant contortions we have in Inquisition.

Sadly... I think they did use motion capture. They made the choice to use a modern woman with an exagerratedly feminine gait. :(

Yes, but I wish they would have choose to go with the female one for both, and thus probably being the only devs in the gaming world that did this.

No

All the motion capture went towards the mabari. BioWare has learnt from COD and that is mo-cap dog! You cannot beat that!

I highly doubt straight males would find the exaggerated hip swaying of their male Inquisitor sexy.

Or gay males,or most females, really.

You can do that? That's awesome.

Some of my female Inquisitors will be ultra-femme and fit the sashay animation like a glove.
Others... not so much. If I don't have options I'd rather the animations be genderneutral.

Have you seen how the women in DAI stand , walk and run?

The exaggerated hip sway, and standing with her arms and hands pointed out....im kinda glad they use the male animations in cutscenes.

I agree.

I don't like the female walk from DA2 or what I have seen in this game. It's silly.

Sad, sad excuse considering 3+ years in development and triple A status.

... *sighs* What would you prefer multiple races or multiple animation sets?

The ONLY viable reason why this would be an issue is if the animation causes a glaring miss step. Example FemShep sitting in a dress with her legs wide open. THAT is something I don't like and never want to see again.

I do believe Bioware has addressed this kind of cutscenes and learned from our feedback. As long as certain key scenes are animated differently there's no need for a complete new set of animations just for the female Inquisi.

I'd prefer the cutscenes to match the ingame animations.

As far as races go, being named "Arl of Amaranthine" made no sense as an elf or dwarf. It seems most of the story in the DA universe plays better with a human.

O.o Okay... was not expecting THAT answer.

I never noticed that women and men moved in a different way.

Just people who like to walk stupid because it's not me.

Except only the default is acceptable. The others look really dorky, unfortunately:

Considering that the arl was handed over to the the grey wardens and you are the warden commander for fereldan how does it not make any sense? People are surprised but it makes sense within the context of the world and story.

It looks especially silly when they use the walking animation sped up for running.

Do you really think this is not a viable excuse? Do you know how much that would cost?

Programmers fee, different permutations for all animations. Double of the total animation, not to mention the money they have spent so far on the other assets and even that was limited.

Software is expensive, very expensive. The constant sprints, the sound, the models, the programming All cost a lot of money.

This is why when unisoft said they couldn't have a female character because of resources I believed them because that is a whole other set of problems.

The money billed for every meeting, time wasted in the Dev cycle. I'm sweating just thinking about it. This is why I am grateful for how much choice we did get. A lot goes into it, triple A status does not automatically mean unlimited resources

The standing really bothered me. I can only imagine the ridiculous looks I'd get if I stood like that at the bus stop.

It would look weird for guys to run like girls but nothing much out of the ordinary for girls to run like guys. Blame society, not Bioware.
