Still, would the mages still hit enemies with their staffs if they come up close like they did in dragon age 2? Its one of the few things I liked about Dragon age 2 and I have found no footage of mages doing that so far.

Although there is a knight enchanter class with a spirit sword power, it Turns out that it is summoned kinda like mass effect 3's omni blade. If mages cant melee with their staff, i May have to opt for the Warrior Templar for my magic knight needs.

Well one of the devs had modified his staff to have a blade on one end, I dunno whether that was a cosmetic upgrade or a practical one.
