So I am 100% buying into the hype for this game.  I am super exited to get my hands on it.

But at the same time this scared me.  While I have no doubt DAI will be a good game I am worried it will not live up to the hype in my head.  I don't want to ruin the game for myself this way....

Did you like DA2?  The reason I ask is that DA2 was hyped a lot and reviewed well (by professional salaried critics) but received poorly by most players.  DA:I seems to me to have more in common with DA2 than it does with DA:O.

I hope and expect DA:I to be a better game than DA2.  I would be surprised if it has as much or more of an impact than DA:O.

I only buckled because The Witcher 3 got pushed back into 2015 and this is the ONLY real RPG coming out this year.

It also looks good and more like Origins, as in, it has more than one location in the entire game.

But if the The Witcher 3 came out as planned, this Fall, I wouldn't even be looking at this game.

Dragon Age Inquisition has nothing on The WItcher 3.

Why don't we wait for both games to release before making baseless comments?

To a degree I've got enough enough disappointments already that I'm safe from the hype train.

Beat my hype OP.

Friend told me its just a game.

I blurted out: "ITS NOT JUST A GAME ITS THE NEXT CHAPTER OF MY LIFE!"

When I realized what I had said. I wasn't sure if that was awesome or just pathetic :(

It's an opinion based on the gameplay and trailers we have seen. If both games came out at the same time, making a purchasing decision based on what we have seen, I would pick The WItcher 3.

Yes, once both games come out, and we see what they truly are, Dragon Age I might prove to be the better game. But I can only discuss what I have seen so far and I have seen that Witcher 3 looks like a better game.

That said, I am glad both games are being made, and i will support both by buying them. The world needs more RPGs in the sea of first person shooters.

cd projeckt.
da2.
nuff said.

but, lol. as long as dai > da2, I'll be satisfied. I liked da2 (did not love it). but "like" is enough to warrant $60. To fix a bulb in my car is more than that, and this is 100s of hrs of entertainment.

I'd love it to live up to dao, but i don't even hope for that, because it is just going to crush my dreams if I do.

I would like The Witcher games more if I actually liked Geralt....  But I don't so I could never really get into them.  But how did this turn into yet another Dragon Age Vs Witcher fights?

While that might be true, The Witcher 3 has recently been in the news for an insider saying specifically you can't trust what CDPR has shown of the Witcher. That is not to say I think it will be a bad game at all (I think we'll get something comparable to TW2: great) but rather that it's prudent to wait and see regardless of a company's reputation. It looks like we are on the same page though as I am also very glad both series are being made, and I very much hope DAI is GOTY 2014 (which may not be that hard with some of this year's heavy hitters not exactly impressing) and TW3 as GOTY 2015.

Thank the gods for AAA RPGs being made.

I recommend lowering settings to those that fall within range of your internal MFX card (ie; Mental FX card), and hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. In this way, your optimism is balanced with your pessimism, and lands somewhere based in reality.

:)

In the meantime, look forward to the shorter range goal of The Keep, and prepare to make own your World States.

Very true.

The stuff they were showing was running on some $5,000 PC that us mortals would never be able to afford. It will look nowhere near as good on a mainstrem PC or the consoles.

Hype is evil, always ignore it no matter how good something looks.

Seriously, walk into something with zero hype, and you'll either be pleasantly surprised or just go "welp, guess it sucked".

Walk in all hyped up and it's either, "oh phew, thank the maker it was actually good" or "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"...

Scenario one is more appealing.

I know the feels.  It is kind of scary given how hyped I was for ME 3...and I still really liked ME 3 just the initial dissapointment (and rage) over the initial ending at first is not a pleasent feeling.  And while I feel ME 3 was a good game I think in a lot of ways that it could have been so much better and more in line with the hype.  So yeah, that alone makes me nervous...but I can't help it...this game looks gorgeous.

I love you.

Anyway, on the off-topic, I don't understand the Witcher vs DA thing. They're not even the same kind of game. The whole customisable protag (or not) immediately makes them different sub genres. I mean, if both being in the broad-ass category of "RPGs" were enough to start comparing and contrasting games, why not compare Ultima and Mass Effect? (Silly supporting example, I know, but whatever.)

And anyway, on the on-topic, the hype is real. I have the excites, and yet, they are tempered by reality which is shocking to me. So I think I've found a nice balance, and I don't see any way I could be disappointed. 'Tis good.

super hyped for this game.  i've playd dao a half dozen times.  i could only finish da2 once because of the overused locations.  i would play it, and i would just get so bored.  however, i did enjoy the combat.  i am hoping that the mixture in styles between dao and da2 in dai will turn into the perfect game.  from everything thing showed so far, it's definitely turning that way.  it looks as though everything has been improved upon for the most part.  this is definitely the game i'm looking forward to the most this holiday season.

never really understood the w3 and dai comparisons myself.  understandable that they are both rpg's, but so different in so many wyas.  a big fan of both series and looking forward to both.  however, dai is defintely number 1 on my most anticipated, followed by batman arkham knight.
