This would probably belong to "Technical Support", but there's no such sub-forum specifically for Inquisition right now, so I decided to post this here. Note that I've also checked over at "EA Help" (and their knowledge base, and typed in 'Inquisition' in their search function) and couldn't find known issues that were even remotely similar to what I'm experiencing right now.

So it's been three days now that I've been trying to buy (pre-order) Inquisition (Deluxe Edition) on Origin. I've tried both on Origin itself, and on the Origin's web-site. What happens is detailed below...

First, I get to the Checkout page to pre-order it (on Origin, of course) and then once I finalize everything, double and triple-check that all my billing information is accurate (and it is) I am then sent to a new separate (bridged) window to pay via PayPal (note that I can only pay with PayPal, I do not have a credit card). So I sign-in to PayPal on that new window and what happens next is...

I then click on "Return to Merchant", only to be welcomed by that new red warning message...

Now, of course I asked my good friend Google to help me about that, typed in a couple of things and finally found a similar issue (note, "similar", related to people who had that same issue but stemmed from not being able to purchase items on eBay instead of Origin). The only suggested  "solution" that I had not tried yet (and I've tried a few so far) was to download a separate extension for Firefox that mimics another type of "User Agent" (I don't know anything about that but that's what it says it does). It sort of emulates browsing on a mobile device (like a iPhone). That "solution" was said to work, that emulating a mobile phone would resolve it. Well it didn't. I still have the exact same problem. Additionally, I've tried with Internet Explorer (both 7 and 8), still, same problem persists.

So, right now I'm pretty much like this...

It's been three days, still hasn't changed. I would really appreciate some help, any help, please. I don't want to be confronted by that on November 18th, or I'll have a heart attack.

This looks to be another (in a long line of issues) plaguing the use of paypal incompatibility with certain merchant types (or specifically, the system they use.)

I, unfortunately cannot offer any "technical" explanation or resolution if you insist on using the Origin server set. But can only offer at least, a potential alternative. Why not try using Gamestop.com (or given your location, your local gaming franchise store if it has an available website). Also, Amazon.com seems to be working just fine with using paypal and is certainly still taking preorders of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I apologize if this response offers no solice or help, but I felt you at least deserved a reply to this issue. Hope for the best! :bandit: :wizard:

Your billing isn't like a P.O. Box or APO? Sometimes billing with using those addresses can cause problems with certain merchants.

I appreciate the replies guys (you Regular Wise Guy, nice name by the way, and SilentCid).

Regarding other sellers... well I've checked Gamestop.com, it just redirects me to EBGames and on their site the Deluxe Edition is +$10 extra (it's $79.99, instead of Origin's $69.99). As for Amazon.com (and .ca, for Canada, since I live in Canada) it unfortunately requires a credit card to "add a payment method", in fact I think that Amazon just doesn't accept PayPal at all (isn't Amazon a competition to eBay?). And concerning my billing address, it's not a P.O. Box, it's a regular Mr. Joe civic address with my name, street, apartment number, etc (it's been the exact same billing address and overall billing info that I've been using since the past four years or so on PayPal).

I'm hoping for Inquisition to pop-up on GreenManGaming but I highly doubt it'd ever happen (I bought Shadow of Mordor on GMG via PayPal without issues).

EDIT: HOLY MACARELLA * yells like little schoolgirl * (you don't want to imagine that coming from me, good thing I'm just typing it) but Inquisition actually IS on GMG, must have missed it or it was added recently! Ok ok ok... hummm, ok... * takes a deep breath, calms down * one thing at a time. I'll see what I can do (I.E. hoping that it's going to work on GMG, it should). I'll update in a moment...

EDIT #2: * places voice-changing mask in front of mouth, adopts Darth Vader's tone and screams * NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Welp, it's only the standard edition for now on GMG (as Kantr below pointed). It's better than nothing though. I will buy it there if the issue on Origin is not resolved in the coming week or so (not that I'm in a hurry though, it comes out in a month so I do have some time to figure out what's going on). I sent a support ticker to GMG asking them if the Deluxe Edition will ever be available there, so I'll wait for their reply, and if they say that they'll never get it (why wouldn't they?) then I'll just buy the regular one (I really want that throne though).

you can't use paypal for pre-orders on Origin. Has to be fully paid. That's my experience at least.

I thought you could. Just unlike with paying by card, paypal takes the money immediately

@Lyrandori

I had the same issue with my pre-order via Origin a few months back, except I was trying to pay via credit card. Kept saying it can't verify my credit card - even though I've bought a lot of DLC and stuff with it before. So don't think its a paypal issue

Anyway, I managed to get my pre-order a few days later - there was an update to origin at the time so it might have been why it decided to work

Could you buy one of those prepaid debit cards and pay that way?  That might work.

Not true I used paypal for my preorder.

The only issue is you can't get a refund without going through the origin people XD

You've only got 24 hours to get a refund if you start playing anyway

You can register on paypal to get the paypal debit card? It will certainly allow you to go to other places to purchase stuff just because it has the Mastercard logo on it.

Have you tried talking to an agent on EA Help? I saw that you said that you browsed the knowledge base, but did you click the button to talk with an agent? I know some people don't like EA Help, but I have never had a problem with them. You can talk to them on the phone, or you can talk to an agent in a IM window.

Ah, thanks everyone for the replies.

A small update, I've received Green Man Gaming's answer concerning the availability of the Deluxe Edition:

-------------------

" Hi,

Unfortunately we currently do not sell this title in the Deluxe Edition form, however, I will pass a message onto our Trade department to see if we can get this item. I will not be able to give you an update to this, however, please check our blog, homepage and social media websites for any updates.

Kind regards,
Clay
"

-------------------

So they'll look into it :D

So here's what I'll do. I'll simply wait for now, November 18th isn't exactly tomorrow. So I'll wait until maybe just a week before the game's release date to see if GMG gets the Deluxe Edition. If they don't have it by that point I'll check to see if perhaps it'd decide to work on Origin (maybe there's going to be an update in the coming weeks, who knows?). Ultimately, if on Origin it doesn't work and the Deluxe Edition is nowhere to be found on GMG then I'll just buy the regular version (on GMG) and call it a night. I mean sure I'd like to buy the Deluxe Edition (not really because of the extras but mostly because that's the only meaningful way I have to say thanks to BioWare), but in the end as long as I simply get to play the game I'll be a happy panda.

You could probably upgrade anyway as apparently you could do so for ME3. Standard ed gives you Flames of Inquisitor

And do you have a checking account, and if so why don't you have check card/debt card that can be used as a credit card...thought that was pretty standard fare?
