I will be doing at least 1 playthrough with each but my first will be a human male mage inquisitor that romances Cass.
Same here.

Human followed by Qunari followed by Human followed by Qunari....
Perhaps I'll play an Elf at some point. Or even a Dwarf. But most of my playthroughs will be pursued with a Human or Qunari.
I went human in DA:O and then Elf in DA2 to see what all the bias against elves was like from the perspective of the protagonist.
I cant put my finger on it but I dont think there was enough social justice to be had as the elf against all the bigotry and racism in the game, which made it a slightly underwhelming experience. (from the race-only perspective, i love the rest of the game. I also think the race experience would have been the same had i played elf in DA:O too).
As I'm less interested in playing that role / experiencing the game from the persecuted again... I would probably human it up so i can get a vanilla race experience and just focus on the rest of the game, but i might try qunari for a second play through for a new perspective, and see if they have made any strides in the divergence and racial issues in this iteration of the game.
EDIT*** I was thinking about how i could elaborate on what i meant by 'lack of social justice'. I'm a little hazy due to duration since playing, but i think the main issue boiled down to the following;
As an elf, somebody could be really racist/rude to you. Now, if you are protagonist doing a 'good guy' play through, your options to achieve social justice are severely gimped, because you can either be evil to get justice or just ignore people being racist to you the whole game. There needed to be (more of) a middle ground dialogue wheel option so you can address racist NPC's without becoming evil.
The qun demands Qunari.
Qunari!
I tend to make my first PC as close to the 'canon' ideal as possible, so with all the official artwork showing a male human two-handed warrior, that will be my first run. After that, could be anything, but I can already tell that I'm not that interested in Qunari or Dwarf. Maybe if it turns out they have a good background or something.
Human male first. Since I kinda am a human male.
I don't know! ;A;
I've narrowed it down to either "Human Male", "Qunari Male", "Female Dwarf", or "Male Dwarf"...
Lawful good human male heterosexual monogamous warrior for first playthrough. Lets me see how much variance there is when playing again.

Wait....How did you play an elf in DA2.....
![]()
Was going to be human but now I'm going for elf.
Female elf first (that one on the question poster is looking quite prettiful
), then female human... maybe a dwarf later. Or qunari.
I have this annoying habit of liking dwarves as a race, and mages as a class. And with Bioware seemingly not changing their stance of making the mage the most interesting looking class and dwarves the only one with restrictions on theirs, I'm still torn between starting with a dwarf or human.
Boring old human first, then perhaps an elf.
Maybe I'll play a dwarf eventually too.
Male Elven Mage!

Maybe I'm confused and it was replaying DA:O
Are you implying its not possible? Which ever I played it was underwhelming.
Elf first!
Qunari! will be my first two.
Dalish elf for third.
Elf for 4th
And human for 5th,
Gotta play 'en all.
Umm . . . all . . of . . them . . ? ![]()
I plan on a female Qunari rouge, duel welder, for my first play though
after that ... I'll see how I feel....but I will eventually play all races.
Qunari first as blunder round, and then elf/human. ![]()
[this will probably also be the first game where I roll a dwarf. Woo!]

You can play an elf by modding DAII. But everything pretty much stays the same and it's really just an aesthetic thing.

You can't be an elf in DA2.
Yes you can make your character look like an elf, or a dragon, or a Qunari or a spaghetti monster, but you will always actually be a human.
