Well, we need to figure something out for our energy consumption.

Preferably sooner rather than later.

...For real? *checks link address* I mean, Reuters is a reputable news agency...

That could be huge, huge news if it actually works. Fusion energy is like the damn holy grail of energy development.

I wouldn't feel too bad about it. It's practically free energy.

Better than Fission tech we are currently using.

Infact, I will feel safer when it replaces the Fission reactor near here.

I'm still waiting for my Solar Car that can be charged with 1 hour of absorbing sun rays and can go 200 km/h.

Didn't know LockMart did work on this sort of thing.

I for one look forward to my nuclear powered car.

It's being developed by a DEFENSE corporation... reminds me of some fictional psychopaths, that's all...

The question about fusion power, after the question of can we make it work, is if it's feasible.

Fusion power still needs matter to work and depending on how hard that is to come by it may not be an economic power source (albeit better than no power source incase of fossil fule depletion, that's granted).

Hmm? Lockheed Martin built a miniature fusion reactor? Well, if this takes us closer to micro fusion cell powered laser rifles, I'm perfectly okay with this. I want to hold a laser rifle in my hands in this lifetime, by gum.

Lasers are too unreliable to be weapons.

Another step closer to bridging the gap between boring reality and sci-fi.

So we have VR right around the corner, self-driving cars a bit further down the line, hoverbike prototypes and then fusion energy powered vehicles.

Oh! Not to mention the gazillion robots that are being worked on!

Now we just need to find some aliens.  ;)

If VR ever occurs, well I'm not bothering with reality anymore.

And it's been a long time since the beginning of 21th century. Where is my flying car?

We also need power storage capability that isn't crap. That would go hand in hand with infinite clean energy. That's the biggest thing holding us back from that 1950's scifi future right now.

Also, I have a feeling that mankind will continue to use any (all) tech breakthroughs as a means to screw each other over. Guess that sounds pessimistic, but hey..

Only if the 99% let the 1% continue with business as usual.

I for one eagerly wait for laser rifles and power armor.

Now all we need is massive advanced in genetic engineering, chainswords and a God-Emperor.
