So we're both going to be called the herald of andraste, as well as being condemned as heretics by the chantry. And from the description of events, its all because of events we don't have control over, cause it supposedly happened from us closing the first breach.

Also, nice that your race gets to play a part in conversation. Good touch.

From the twitch stream it sounded like the Chantry condemns the Inquisition as Heretics because their leader is a Dalish Elf who is hailed as the Herald of Andraste.

It could be different and they might support the Inquisition being lead by, say, a non-Mage Human.

I doubt it will vary based on race. Very likely, it is because the Grand Clerics who are still alive opposed the Divine's plans, such as reviving the Inquisition and her handling of the Mage-Templar conflict, and have very different political goals. Even a human being called the Herald would be a threat to their power.

I will be interested in how the different races and (to an extent) classes are handled, but I'd be willing to bet that the Inquisition are always branded as heretics because it seems like it'd be a fairly major plot point (gaining/rejecting Chantry support).

Nah I think its more to do with some random stranger being hailed as the second coming of jesus christ, essentially. Human or not, they're getting condemned and probably excommunicated.

If there were a genuine manifestation of the divine today, a large portion of the world's religions would likely turn on the manifestation and brand those who believed in it as heretical mainly because most organized religions suffer from the same problems as the world's governments - they love their power and anything that would change or undermine potentially undermine their structure and power is a threat, even if it should be something they should welcome if they were true to what they say they believe.

I'm guessing the Chantry is the same.

- No, I wrote a fairly large comment which I'm not going to post because it could have come across as insulting to some people and it included comparisons to ISIS. How I have no idea, I went completely of track, and then off track again. To be completely honest, I have no idea why I am writing this (and coincidentally posting this as well) because this has no relevance to the topic at hand. I apologise.

It seems it does give you some room for how you wish to RP.

I'm glad that I can fix ties with the Chantry if I wish through that one Grand Cleric, or possibly manipulate/influence that one Grand Cleric to support my own views (maybe), or possibly just use her to get connected with the people due to her reputation and just forget the rest of the Chantry as the common folk's cheers overwhelm the criticism of the Chantry. I can see multiple ways to handle it depending on Inquisitor.

I'll probably try to ease relationships with the Chantry on my human mage playthrough, as his family is said to have close ties to the Chantry, I will probably play him as a devout Andrastian... probably with Imperial leanings if that is possible in game...

Likely, though if you are a mage and a guy they might be more open to it.

I get the impression that the Chantry will condemn the INQ regardless of race.

This is a rare case when heresy is good.

Psssh, I'll bring the Chantry to its knees if I can in my canon play. My human mage Inquisitor does not have time for the Chantrys crap.
