Now this is certainly going to count as one of the best nerdstatic questions I have the privilege of spewing my thoughts all over!
I KEEED!
But, I admire the question because it is both thought provoking and earnest. Here is what I was able to relate to on a personal level when playing Dragon Age Origins.
- Being a complete outsider suddenly trust in an established set of standards and circumstances to which I was not only unaware of, unfamiliar with and unprepared for, but expected to somehow gains the skills and insight to master and overcome the issue with little to no actual "training". This set of extreme circumstances there by leave no grey area for half-assing at all. You either 1) Drown in the wake of the shear vastness of the problem or 2) You do in fact, take your own skills and understanding and manage to not only adapt, but overcome in ways even you did not forsee.
There have been so many situations I can base this feeling off of, where circumstances (usually created by other, grossly inept people) somehow become MY problem to deal with; problems based on facts and actions that I was never privy to nor had any hand in shaping. Worse still, there was no accountability to the actual sources of the problem(in other words, holy hell if you actually go to one of these fools and expect them to own up to how bad they turned the problem side ways.)
In this way, I most related to my Warden because in the end, not only did they find what they needed within themselves to overcome, but also drew from the diversity of those around him, regardless of differences!
....and my geekhood feels a bit more justified now!
