That's right, the choices don't matter. Like Commander Shepard saving all those people.

Or the Rachni.

Yes. It's called "Dungeons and Dragons." Also "Pathfinder", and "Unhallowed Metropolis." And there might be one soon called "Dragon Age: Inquisition". You won't have as many choices as those games allow you, and I therefore recommend you look into those games, but Inquisiton really might let you shape the world you see. (And it's certainly advertised as a game that will.)

Are those some tabletop games?

The first two are. I assume the third is too.

Tabletop games are not CRPGs. CRPGs are necessarily limited.

I would say that ME did a fairly good job making choices matter. Especially with the Krogan Genophage..

For DA:I, I'm expecting the Keep have tons of minor quest choices (ex. Elora's Halla)

and they will be briefly mentioned.

Just don't RGB me and force the Inquisitor to do something horrible to Thedas in order to "save" it.

And then burn for it no matter what anyway, because "bittersweet"

Yep. When I want choice, that's where I go. When I want to be able to play whenever I want and see moving graphics, I go to video games. But you're missing out if you're not playing both, because there's things one can do that the other can't do as easily, and sometimes that the other can't do at all.

Every fan has their own metric by which they deem their choices to "matter." So I say it's largely incorrect to say your choices in ME didn't matter even after the ending, though some things like the Council choice really don't.

The important thing for Dragon Age is to properly gauge what choices they should offer to you given this world will presumably continue after Inquisition. For example, there's no way in hell you're going to be able to have a decisive victory for either the mages or templars where one option leads to the reestablishment of the Circle and the other an independent mage state. That would either be diminished to the point of sameness (see Council choice) or straight up retconned in Dragon Age 4, as it's simply too divergent for too important a choice. Similarly, although the marketing would have you believe you can either bring Order or Chaos to Thedas, prepare for that to be flowery language detailing a few aspects of the same general result. You aren't going to be able to leave the Fade tear open, or do whatever it is The Elder One wants to do. The Fade tear will either be closed or left open, but it won't be a result of your choice.

That's the tradeoff you have for a persistent world with choices that carry over. Instead of one game wherein you can influence a lot and have significant divergence, BioWare games more resemble a template that you can tweak to your liking. I've learned that the significant carryover for BioWare games is what happens to characters. With very few exceptions (Leliana) they have done a great job of accounting for character fates.

I hope so because I will create a playthrough with the most chaos for my inquisitor to stop.

1. Connor possessed, Marjoline alive, Alistair+ Anora married

2. Warden in love with Leliana bit baby with Morrigan.

3. Hawke in love with Merrill, killed the clan any warden is Dalish

You name it! <= not my 1st playthrough tho

Yes... I finished a 'worst scenario' playthrough as well, it was so painful to do so I hope it will matter in this game. And then I realized I can do this easily in the Keep and cried for a really long time.

Anyways, let's hope choices matter in the long run! I'm more of a 'big picture' kinda player when it comes to story so I don't really need every little thing to affect the outcome of the story, as nice as that may be. As long as there are a few endings that don't just depend on one choice, I'm fine. That being said, I think I heard that there were a lot of different endings for this game.

Choices will only matter for as long as the writers want them to matter and in most cases choices will carry through but not affect the main story. It seems for the sake of writing convenience the main story will almost always play out the same way but the process of getting from A to B will be slightly different based on choices its just that you'll always end up at B. Choice really seems to be window dressing for me, it makes the game feel like mine and thus make it more attractive but its still written by someone else who has there own ideas as to how the story is going to play out. Also, the writers have the ultimate anti-choice weapon at their disposal, retcons.
