Could any of the current npcs be upgraded to companions/romance interests later on?

I think on way around this would be to upgrade existing characters later on that are already in game. Such as:
scout Harding (romantic interest)
Vivienne a romantic interest
Cullen as a companion
Leliana companion/romantic interest
Not sure if this has been brought up before, let me know what you think

I'm sorry, but I can't see that happening within DA:I.
Cullen and Leliana are both advisers, so that won't be magically upgrading to full fledged companions in this game.
Also, the devs have said that the PC cannot romance either Leliana or Morrgian since they were possibly LIs for the Warden. They aren't going to write another romance for them.
Scout Harding might be an NPC flirt. While the romances are going to be among the party members/companions that are already stated, the devs did say that there'll be some NPCs you can flirt with. That's about it.
Vivienne won't be a romance interest in this game. There is 8 romances already, and a ton of the word budget was already used for them. From what I've heard, there will be a reason in game for this that the player will find out.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if Cullen wasn't possibly a companion in the next game.

Makes sense, but I can always hope lol. I wouldn't mind if Cassandra and Josephine weren't so ugly.

And go check out the latest trailer that came out earlier this week. Cass doesn't look exactly the same either.

I find them both attractive. I like the scar on Cassandra's left cheek.

Most likely not. Doubly so with Leliana.

I did not see that, I void my opinion about Josephine. To be fair the previous pics were not very flattering. Cassandra, her hair cut is just too severe, I saw her longhaired concept art, she was a beauty.
Cassandra never had long hair in the concept art. I'd be happy to dig up pics of that for you. The change they made from the original concept art to DA2 was the hair color, which was originally white.
The only images with her having long hair was in her movie, Dawn of the Seeker. She was also in her late-teens to early 20s at that point. It's been 20 years since then, and it makes more sense for a female warrior like that to have short hair. In any case, you have still Josie and unless you're really opposed to playing a female character, Sera is available too. You might not be thrilled with your options, but you've still got them.
They aren't going to write or suddenly reveal a new romance just because a few folks don't like them upon first impression. Play the game, see it for yourself, then judge it.

So, the confirmed romance options are the only ones?
#10
Posté 16 octobre 2014 - 03:14
That's correct. The devs have said that there will some NPCs you can flirt with, but those aren't romances. Whatcha see is whatcha get, so wait for another month and 3 days for the game to come out before you make any solid decisions about who you will/won't romance. ![]()

Ah, my bad. I was thinking about this, but I was thinking in terms of what we've seen in the games so far.
In any case, you'd rather have her in a widow's peak than short hair? Really? Okay, but a lady with a receeding hairline looks worse...
So, they aren't going to change that because it makes her look like she's balding. Her hair has been short since before DA2 came out. Did you have a problem over the haircut in DA2?
To me, Cassandra looks like this, without makeup:
Cass' face has much of the same angles. It's shown that her cheeks also become rounder when she smiles, just like Ms. Ryder up here. Cassandra is beautiful, powerful and has shown a vulnerable side
I guess these women are ugly too, because of their short hair:
I'll say this again: Play the game. Look at the final build of the graphics, and the final product of the characters before you judge. If you think that a character is ugly due to one facial scar and the (gasp!) practicality of being a melee fighter with short hair, then that's on you. I don't think she's ugly. I know of plenty of self-identified straight men that don't think she's ugly.
What's the point of this thread, anyhow? To have another poster stating that BioWare should fix the romance options because a few very loud, very entitled people think the characters aren't as good looking as they "should" be? They aren't going to magically add anymore romances. Cass is going to keep her hair short, as it should be for a frontline fighter.
Sorry if you think that all women must have long hair and perfect faces to be a romance, but BioWare obviously disagrees with you. Don't hold out any hope for mods either, for at least a year or two. Frostbite is very hard to mod, one of the hardest out there from everything I've read.
You want ladies with long hair for romances in future DA games? Then put it as a request for DA4, if that's what you really want.
Do you want it for DA:I? Then I'd suggest saving your time and your breath. Even in the ME games, where they put out alternate appearance packs, the hair was left alone. They aren't going to drastically change the companions appearance just because a very very small group of very loud people don't like it. Sera isn't going have long hair again, and neither is Cassandra.
You'll have to accept your LI choices and what they look like for this game, and make polite suggestions for future DA games. Or, close your wallet and don't pay for DA:I. Simple and a far better use of your time.

I guess you've decided that getting to know their personalities is too much work? Weird. When I pay for a BioWare game, I play to get to know the characters around my party. Even with the LIs. Shocking, isn't it? That I will actually play the game before I make decisions like that. I know better than to let other people on the internet as well as tiny snippets of pre-Alpha pics and a haircut affect my judgement.
None of the Lis are to my taste upon first impression, but it would be silly to declare a "nomance" before the game even came out. Their personality (oops, there goes that word again) is what I like in LIs, not so much their looks. Of course, if you'd rather deny yourself any romance content because you don't want your PC kissing them based on looks alone, then you only have yourself to blame.

El Topo Chico is satisfied with Cassandra and Josephine. They will offer more than enough romantic challenge.

Im not sure what topic your reading....
I never mentioned that i wanted anything fixed, added, or changed (never even used these words nor any variation of them). I only suggested that they could take existing secondary characters and make them more interactive. I suggested, didnt ask, demand, threaten, insult, or use any vulgar or impolite words (maybe except ugly if you count it as such).
Im not sure how my opinion offends you, if I dont like something you dont need to take such offense to it. And yes I think those people you posted are terribly ugly. I just don't like short hair. Again my opinion, not saying that i hate anyone with short hair. I respect your opinion that you dont think she is ugly, respect mine and that should be it.
Also I don't think im entitled to anything, please stop reading into things, just chill and dont get so worked up. Just posted a thread, you didnt need to comment

Honestly I haven't even decided if I'll buy the game.
And it's not up to you to determine someone else's romantic preferences. Some cannot be in a relationship with someone they don't find physically appealing, and that's just how it is.
The fact is that the romance options so far presented are very limited in type, hence the generalised feeling of disapointment.
Most of us live in a free society after all, people shouldn't be judged for their preferences.
So please, relax, that kind of frustration isn't healthy.

There is one concept of her with long slicked back white hair, I believe overlooking Varric.
