I'm talking about the culture. Escalades on chrome (or Escalades AND chrome) are very much a part of "hood" culture. Bling.

What exactly is hood culture?

It's not some clearly defined area (which is why I used quotes), but basically things like I mentioned, "bling." Flashy stuff like chrome, or gold-colored stuff, or the idea of being a "thug," as a style.

Nothing. I don't equate Escalades on chrome with dudes wearing house slippers outside.

Haha.

A guy friend of mine who is Colombian just moved into a relatively nice neighborhood in New Jersey a few years ago. His family own a couple black Escalades and Range Rovers with dark tinted windows and he's always seen by his neighbors outside talking to his other Colombian cousins who also drive black Range Rovers.

So anyway, he never gets anyone come trick-or-treating on Halloween. :D

I don't think being flashy is exclusive to this culture personally. Historically, even the ancient Egyptians participated in it. http://atensequence....to-ancient.html

Thug culture exists but they are a lot of social and geographical reasons for it.

I've never watched a Fast & Furious movie, were they ever a part? I thought that was tuner culture, wasn't it based in Japan or something?

You have never watched any Fast and Furious movies?

Oh man, you have to watch them all. Starting with the first one.

I wouldn't call it the "tuner" culture, but it is a Hollywood take on the modified car scenes. Which are very different in real life. Like the car meets in real life are all full of either dumb kids or middle age men, instead of sexy girls dancing with skimpy clothing like in the movies.

Please don't think I'm criticising it, I've got plenty of family that embraces it to some level or another.

I remember one time taking a gander at the first one, but it never caught my interest.

Is it basically like the NFS games, at least Most Wanted or Undercover (Most Wanted most, such a wonderful game)?

I'll admit that I have a part of me that revels in the idea of such things (not necessarily the girls in skimpy clothing part, but the whole idea of street racing and all that stuff), but though I've never been to a "car meet" it's pretty obvious they're not like that, heh.

Oh not at all. I was thinking you were, I just like to create dialogue
