So, since I see at least a couple of "can my PC run DA:I" threads posted per day, often to only be lost in the hustle and bustle of the main forum, I figured that I'd try and start a dedicated thread where people can post their specs, and get discussion going over whether they need a new Rig, or how their gaming experience might be. A lot of discussion also goes on in the PC system requirements thread, but maybe this will help out some people.

For those who plan to maybe play on PC, but aren't incredibly familiar with PC specs, the only parts in your computer that will really affect how the game performs are the CPU (clock speed helps but isn't necessary), the amount of RAM, and the GPU. i.e:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K (@4.6GHz)

RAM: 16GB

GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 970

You can find this out using a combination of the "Control Panel --> System and Security --> System" window, as well as the device manager.

So yeah, if you plan to play DA:I on PC, or just want to know if you might be able to, go ahead and post your specs, and either I or someone else will try and let you know roughly how well the game will run.

Minimum:

OS:

Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit

CPU:

AMD quad core CPU @ 2.5 GHz

Intel quad core CPU @ 2.0 GHz

System RAM:

4 GB

Graphics CARD:

AMD Radeon HD 4870

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Graphics Memory:

512 MB

Hard Drive:

26 GB

DirectX 10 support

Recommended:

OS:

Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit

CPU:

AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz

Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz

System RAM:

8 GB

Graphics CARD:

AMD Radeon HD 7870 or R9 270

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

Graphics Memory:

2 GB

Hard Drive:

26 GB

DirectX 11 support

I used http://www.systemreq...ntslab.com/cyri to see if I could run it and the one thing it said wasn't enough was that my video card didn't have enough dedicated video ram. How important is that?

First keep in mind those websites that estimate this stuff don't really work. They don't take into account your display resolution, graphics settings, or what framerate you prefer to run the game at. Those make a huge difference.

What are your computer's specs and display resolution of your monitor/laptop screen?

Uuh I'm not the most tech savy so if I'm listing the wrong things, sorry

The display resolution is a mobile pc display at 1366 x 768

The advanced thing says

Total available graphics memory: 1792 MB

Dedicated Video memory: 32 MB

System Video memory: 0 MB

Shared System Memory: 1760 MB

The specs say this dHEHL9D.png

I hope this may help clarify a few things, and give you some additional details for the sake of understanding:

1- Dedicated Video RAM helps to take the resources needeed to run Higher graphic details (resolutions, screen frame rates, in game textures and graphics) directly from the video card, as opposed to pulling them from your systems full dedicated memory RAM.  (so for example, you have 8GB of memory RAM, 1GB of dedicated VIDEO RAM.. your system will pull the 1GB from the card, and expend another 1GB from the computers memory for usage to run the game on its minimum /recommended settings.) Now what does this mean to you? It means you can play the game at the mid to low level settings with little to no issues, but I would not recommend high or ultra settings as you would see a severe decrease in fluid graphics and gameplay, possible even and outright crash of the game.)

2- As mentioned by Naughty99, there are a few other factors to consider to make your game play smooth and as trouble free as possible ( as in referring to your graphic settings, display native resolution and refresh rate, etc.) However, the tool you used did serve the purpose intended to give you the broad, general overview of whether or not your hardware will allow you to play the game on at least the minimum needed settings. The reason those aforementioned things are not part of the tool is because they are completely controlled BY YOU, so you can adjust them as you need to find a balance that will allow you a descent aesthetic as well as fluid as possible game play. Now does this mean you may not get to play the game on the settings you WANT? have the level of detail you want? possibly..but, given the detail of even minimum settings, the look is going to be far from horrid 90's are graphics! .... B)

So, hopefully this helps amigo!

Hmm, to know how well you might be able to run the game, we'd need to know what GPU you have. If the System came with a discreet GPU (AMD Radeon something, or Nvidia Geforce something) then you might be able to check the box it came in, or the specific model number of the laptop.

The easiest way, if you don't know, is to check your device manager, which you can find by going to the control panel, then clicking on "Hardware and Sound", Device manager should be under "Devices and Printers". Once you have device manager open, click the little arrow next to "Display Adapters". If all you see is "Intel® HD Graphics Family", then you don't have a Discreet GPU, and you unfortunately will not be able to play DA:I on your laptop. If you do see something else there, let us know and we can tell you whether or not it is sufficient.

The good news is that your CPU and RAM are well up to par, but without a discreet GPU, you probably won't be able to do much on that laptop.

Edit: the 32 MB of "Dedicated Video Memory" probably indicates that you only have the standard intel HD 4000 integrated graphics, which is not really enough to play DA:I. Still the above is a good guide for anyone else looking to check what GPU they have in their system if they don't already know.

Thanks! Playing at mid level works for me, I'm just glad to know I have the option to play at all.

Well crap. All it says is Intel® HD Graphics 4000. Is that different enough from Intel® HD Graphics Family?

Actually, my bad, I was basing it off of how battlefield 4 played on the HD 4000 (they have the same engine). It turns out the BF4 will actually run on an HD 4000, but at VERY low specs, and resolution.

Technically, the HD 4000 is a weaker GPU than the Geforce 8800 GT, which is listed as one of the minimum required GPUs for DA:I. Basically what this means is that Bioware is not obligated to make the game even run on the HD 4000, so it's actually a tossup as to whether the game will run at all. You could always get the game and try it out, but your best bet is a new, even marginally better system with a dedicated GPU.

....caught all that info. myself too!

Yeah after the laughing stopped and I realized I spilled my vodka, I thought to myself: Well, I've a system that is pretty much batman awesome!

Then I see those specs. and its like Godzilla just came to Gotham!

But, I digress, hell yes I would probably be inclined to "proudly" display those kinds of specs. myself! Very nice rig indeed Badboy64.

I think I can run it well for the most part. The only thing I'm unclear about is the GPU since I don't really keep up with the latest tech. Since I got my GPU a few years ago, my guess is that it's not really going to be up to the task.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460

RAM: 8 GB

GPU: Sapphire HD 7750

at 1080p, you certainly won't be able to run everything on Ultra and still get 60 FPS consistently, however, your system is sitting pretty just above the recommended specs, so expect medium to high detail levels to run very smoothly, and honestly just look very good.

@ Aesir26,

Well lets nail down just a few more details if possible...

CPU - do you happen to know your clock speed?

RAM - not an issue here

GPU - do you know your dedicated VRAM (video memory) for this card? is it at least the MIN 512mb dedicated?

As a small consolation, given possible minor adjustments to resolution size, and refresh rate, unless you CPU is below 2.0Ghz, then you should not have an issue with low settings, especially if your GPU at least meets the minimum memory.

In terms of GPU, your card sits basically halfway between "minimum" and "recommended", so while you'll definetely be able to run the game, you will probably have to turn most of the settings to low/medium to get good framerates.

Honestly, if you are really itching to see all the shiny bloom particle effects rendered in perfect HD, you probably want to upgrade, but as it stands, your rig seems like a perfectly capable PC for light use, so don't feel incredibly pressured to upgrade. Basically, if you are buying DA:I for the story, don't sweat it, otherwise, I or anyone else can help you out if you plan to build a new PC or just upgrade your GPU.

@Regular Wise Guy - the HD 7750 has 1GB of dedicated Vram minimum, but can have up to two (bow to my Google-fu)

@Regular Wise Guy

I'm not terribly tech savvy but as far as I can tell this is correct. (All hail Google for helping me to locate this stuff)

I believe the CPU's clock speed is 3.20 GHz.

The dedicated vram is 1024 MB.

EDIT

@Hyperion

Thanks. I was going back and forth between buying it for the PS4 and buying it for the PC so this definitely solidifies my decision until I can upgrade my GPU.

@ Aesir26,

Then as confidently and accurately expressed mi amigo, you will certainly be able to enjoy the low - medium settings (a quite easily muddle around with some high individual settings, but not ultra) in all their splendor, which is nothing to scoff at given the advancement and capability of the FrostBite 3 engine and such.

I bow to no false Fu... I ask Jeebs, the digital Alfred!  I KEEEEED! B) Always handy that Tiger style Google!

This is my laptop, which I'll be replacing soon:

nvidia GeForce GT 555M

1366x768

intel core i7 2670 2.2 GHz

8GB DDR3

All the component are above the bare minimum, apart from the GPU, which I'm really unsure about.  Does anyone know the GT 555?  Comparing GPUs, it seems to be above the minimum suggested graphics card on some fronts, but below on others.

Not going to run 1080p comfortably, but at 1366x768 should be playable if you fiddle with the settings, probably turn off MSAA.

Here's more info and ranking on your GPU: http://www.notebookc...5M.41933.0.html

I'm not 100% certain about my CPU. I've got an intel core i3-3220 CPU at 3.30GHz, which only has two cores, however, it's got hyper threading and therefore four processors. cyri says I can run it, and a friend of mine who's better with computers than me says I'll be fine, and the speed is certainly fast enough for recommended specs, but I'm paranoid and if someone else could give me an opinion, that would be great.

My pc meets all the other requirements, just fyi.
