So, since I see at least a couple of "can my PC run DA:I" threads posted per day, often to only be lost in the hustle and bustle of the main forum, I figured that I'd try and start a dedicated thread where people can post their specs, and get discussion going over whether they need a new Rig, or how their gaming experience might be. A lot of discussion also goes on in the PC system requirements thread, but maybe this will help out some people.

For those who plan to maybe play on PC, but aren't incredibly familiar with PC specs, the only parts in your computer that will really affect how the game performs are the CPU (clock speed helps but isn't necessary), the amount of RAM, and the GPU. i.e:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K (@4.6GHz)

RAM: 16GB

GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 970

You can find this out using a combination of the "Control Panel --> System and Security --> System" window, as well as the device manager.

So yeah, if you plan to play DA:I on PC, or just want to know if you might be able to, go ahead and post your specs, and either I or someone else will try and let you know roughly how well the game will run.

Minimum:

OS:

Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit

CPU:

AMD quad core CPU @ 2.5 GHz

Intel quad core CPU @ 2.0 GHz

System RAM:

4 GB

Graphics CARD:

AMD Radeon HD 4870

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Graphics Memory:

512 MB

Hard Drive:

26 GB

DirectX 10 support

Recommended:

OS:

Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit

CPU:

AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz

Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz

System RAM:

8 GB

Graphics CARD:

AMD Radeon HD 7870 or R9 270

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

Graphics Memory:

2 GB

Hard Drive:

26 GB

DirectX 11 support

So if i lower my screen res, I can play it with better graphics?

You can also scale the resolution down ingame as well for the same gains, so you can keep your desktop res where you want.

Just out of Curiosity Barrett, have you guys tested the game at all on intel HD integrated graphics?

Not sure, I suspect we haven't (mostly desktop PC build testing). The catlab/compatibility testing teams might've, but I'm not aware.

Thanks!

I should've brought in my dad's Commodore Vic20 to test minspec

That aside, will Inquisition run on dual core processors, or is quad core a hard requirement? And if it does run on dual, how well?

From a different/similar thread:

For those asking dual core - one of the min-specish dual core workstations I have does indeed run the game, and not too terribly. I haven't played all that far though, and I'm not sure if we'd officially support it, so your mileage may vary.

It's a Xeon 5150 2.66GHz, with an 8800GTX (512mb), 4GB RAM.

Hmm, my desktop may be able to run it after all then.  :D

What's the word on Operating systems? Is it Windows 7 at minimum required? Or can it run on Vista too? (Just not officially supported?)

Does Vista have 64-bit? (I'm not actually sure it did) If so, it might? Certainly no guarantee it would run well.

I had a question for any of the Devs, now that the game is Gold: What settings are there to reduce the combat FX to something less distractive? Not certain as to the cause, but I seem to have a minor problem viewing the battles with the settings used in some Demo's; seen along with an unstable camera, it can even become a little nauseating for me.

Thank you for any helpful info! :)

There's a camera setting which lets it stay at the angle/position you set it or auto-level to horizon/ground angle when moving, so hopefully using that will help with nausea for you. I suspect when you're driving yourself and not watching someone else it will be less disorienting too.

There's also a graphic setting for (IIRC) spell effects quality or spell postprocess quality, one or two options along those lines (bah can't recall exactly atm), so also hopefully you'll be able to tweak for best comfort!
