Anyone please?  :)

You and I have an almost identical setup with the exception of a 660ti for me. You're at rec specs for this game. If you look at the chart a page back, for BF4 performance, you'll see we should both hit 60fps at 1080 on max settings. You're gold for this game.  :)

How about 900p medium settings on

i5-2410M 2.3GHz
4GB RAM
GT555M 2GB GDDR3

Possible? Might even need to sacrifice settings further since playing in 900p on a 1080p screen is not the greatest idea (which I noticed after having accidentally played ME3 in 900p for quite a while)

Possibly 1080p lowest settings or 900p low/medium, or drop down to 768p/720p if you want it to run smoother. You can see how it compares with similar cards on GPU list (link below in my sig).

Some videos of people running BF4 with 555m at 768p and 900p:

Basically what naughty said. It's also worth noting that they both have more RAM and slightly better CPUs.

So if you really want to play on Medium, I'd say you have to downscale to 720p and even that might pose a problem.

Hello!

My assumption is that I'll be able to run the game, but I wouldn't know on what settings.

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k 3.50 ghz (times two)
RAM: 16GB (that much I know will be fine)
GPU: GeForce 680

If anyone needs a video card and lives in the US, right now you can get the Asus GTX 970 Ti for only $313 from Tigerdirect.

So, I know nothing about computers....and I'm looking at a laptop ( "portability" reasons).

For hard drive, what would be better?

1TB 5400 RPM SATA + 80GB SSD Cache

256 GB SSD mSATA boot + 1 TB 5400RPM

1 TB 5400 RPM SATA + 120 GB SSD mSATA

1 TB SSD Samsung EVO + 120 GB SSD mSATA

SSD won't improve gaming performance much, other than providing shorter loading screens. If you use Photoshop or creative applications, it can help a lot with those.

Out of idle curiosity, when did PC gamers start describing resolutions as "1080p," etc.., rather than, say, 1600x900 and so forth?

And should we have a separate system build thread for those of us who are going to have to rebuild or upgrade, or should we just do that here?

It will run DAI. The CPU is more than fine, the GPU is pretty good, but could stand to be upgraded.

It might run 30fps on high graphics, but it will definitely do fine with medium or low.

SSD's are always better. Get a 120-150g SSD and put only your OS and games on it, then put everything else on a HDD (for cost effective storage).

While true that SSD's benefit OS operations more than Games DAI looks like it will have huge levels, thus page faults are far more likely than in DAO/2, just as with Skyrim the SSD's are actually going to be fairly useful because of the amount of information flowing through main memory.

I don't think you could pull that off. It's a laptop I'm guessing. With a mobile 2 gb graphics card and only 4 gigs of ram, and only 2.3 Ghz your av. framerate would around 10 fps.

I used to have a laptop with an i5 2.7 ghz, 8 GB ram, and a 2 gb video card, and it couldn't run any game at 900p without some massive framerate drops. So your best bet is to upgrade to get a pc. You could easily build a 500$ Pc and run this game at 1080.

Medium or low? He should get higher than 30. Check the BF4 list, posted by naughty99, on page 14. He should be able to run this game on high very well.

Can go to CanIRunit and check system against the specs for DAI. They have it on the list now.

It's how I determined even though my existing laptop could run BF4 it doesn't meet min specs for DAI, aaannnnnnd, that's why I'm going to be very poor shortly.

Although now that I think about it, that site doesn't tell you if you can run it at what settings you'd be able to.....I don't recall.....I think it was just that your system meets the minimum or recommended system requirements.

Maybe I'm underestimating his GPU, but it is quite a few series behind the current Nvidia one. I'm more familiar with the Radeon cards than the nvidia.

I think you are. Let's put it this way: His card sits just above the listed rec spec Nividia card which is the 660 (which is mine although I have the better ti version of it). That should mean he is just above the rec line and not below it. He should be able to get high settings. Medium is more likely for those sitting between the minimum and the rec. Not everyone is going to need a 970/980 to run this game very well.  I think he'll do much better than "low."

I agree. He probably won't be able to max it, but High shouldn't be a problem.

Yup, you can see on some BF4 benchmarks the GTX 670 gets close to average 60fps at 1080p max settings no AA, and 660 Ti is just under that: http://www.bf4blog.c...cpu-benchmarks/

Medium/low would be much faster, likely somewhere around 100-120fps
