That upgrade isn't really worth it. How much money are you willing to spend?

Most I can push to is about £200 at the moment.

There's just so many cards to choose from, I'm just not sure which ones would be actually worth the spend. Even if it's just to tide me over for a year or so.

I got these results from the Can you run it? Battlefield 4 checker on the 'Recommended' tab but I'd just like to know, if possible, if my card will be ok with the very best graphics settings on DAI? like, no stutters with smoke effects or random fps drops etc...

You Have: Intel® Core™ i7-4820K CPU @ 3.70GHz

I'd say to just adjust the settings as you go along and see what works best for you. You should simply consider that it's possible you won't get sufficient performance with anything beyond the lowest settings.

Regarding OC: overclocking mobile parts is pretty dangerous and I'd advice against doing it. If you still really want to do it, make sure to be extremely careful and do your research.

Yes, thanks for your help

These days components will throttle by themselves if the temperatures reach an unsafe level, so it's quite safe to overclock

Both cost a little bit more than what you want to spend but you might need to find them cheaper somewhere.

If it really has to be a cheaper option, I'd go with this or that.

Wasn't sure about the CPU, as the 'can you run it' site only gave me an exclamation mark rather than a happy little tick (though it did say I can play at Recommended, I just wonder where it might get me when it comes to Medium settings and beyond.)

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 3.5GHz (quad core)
GeForce GTX 980 - 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB
TeamGroup Vulcan GOLD 16GB Memory

Most games I play seem fine on Ultra but I've never played a game using the Frostbite Engine.

You should have no problems whatsoever with highest settings, 60 FPS and 1080p.

Are you serious with that? GTX 980 is the most powerful card on the market right now (apart from a riddiculous 1000+ USD Radeon).

Your CPU is extraordinary as well.

Ultra and 60+ FPS, at least in 1080p (1440p whould be fine as well).

Can you really be that oblivious to your own hardware? I don't want to sound like a d*ck but even someone who knows next to nothing about computers should be able to tell that Max/Ultra settings will be a complete breeze with that rig.

Yeah given how named the parts extactly, have to agree unlike the noobs in computer hardware like me he is able to answer his own question. Kinda surpised he didn't list the power supply.

But think people like showing off when they get a 980 card since they get grabbed fast.

So I used to be a computer nerd about a decade ago but then life got a hold of me and is merciless in keeping me busy. I really don't know what the hell all the graphics cards mean anymore. I got this laptop 2 years ago I think as a graduation gift. I can play skyrim on it but with mixed results. If my laptop can't run DAI then I have to play it on my 360 which I want to avoid (room is set up so the tv has lots of glare. wife says no on moving it)

here are the specs

  • Intel Core i5 2450M (2.50GHz)
  • 4GB Memory 500GB HDD
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M
  • 1600 x 900

Any help would mean and e-hug as I need to know soon which version to pre order.

With the spec like that if you think you can't run Battlefield 4 on Ultra with 60+ FPS then a lot of people can't. You can run DAI very smoothly, and your rig is overkill for DAI.

Dedicated memory = graphics card memory. You have 1.5gb version of GTX660.

If your system runs out of graphics memory, it can use up to 2.5gb (Shared system memory) of its 16gb for graphics.

Total available graphics memory 2.5gb + 1.5gb = 4gb

Hey, so I'm asking in here again cause I really need help determining if my computer will be able to play this.

Windows 8.1

6 GB of RAM

Intel Core i3-4005U CPU @ 1.7GHz

AMD Radeon R7 M260 2GB dedicated graphics

I know my CPU is a bit low, but is it possible for me to get by on the lowest settings and my computer on its highest performances?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

Or you could wait for the 8GB cards to come out.

What's more important upgrading my video card or my ram I plan on upgrading both, but at the moment I only have enough saved up for one or the other.

Anyone?

Until the game comes out, nobody can be sure if it will work. Your outlook is a bit bleak according to this site who couldn't even get BF4 benchmarks running. Not to say it's impossible though, as there are youtube videos of people using this GPU on BF4. If there are plenty of graphics options, maybe you can improvise ultra low graphics, but your CPU is underpowered and technicaly below minimum spec as it is dual core.

GPU is more important, usually. Which GPU do you have and how much RAM?

Very easy choice then: upgrade your GPU. 4GB ram is actually perfectly fine for gaming and most of the time you don't even need more - that being said, you should upgrade eventually, but right now you're good.

If you need some advise on which GPU to pick, give me some more information on your rig (CPU, motherboard, power supply) and on how much money you're willing to spend.

Thanks for the advice :), I'm probably gonna go with the EVGA GTX 660.

Why would you be getting such a dated GPU? That's even worst than consoles if not mistaken. I would rather get GTX970 as minimum

It would kill my power supply and it's so far out of my price range that it's not even worth thinking about at the moment

Money ? They said they had enough saved up to update GPU or RAM. The GTX970 is a lot more expensive than the GTX660.

The GTX 660 is pretty much the equivalent of the PS4/XONE GPUs. And probably because it's too expensive.

That being said, Dalya, if you don't want to spend more than 200$, I'd suggest this card. It's by far the best card in that price range and it's quite a bit better than the 660 - as long as you have a decent, quality 500w power supply.
