My cousin is concerned if he can play the game with his computer.

CPU : Intel Quad Q8300 2.5 GHz

GPU : Asus GTX 460 768mb

RAM : 6 GB

Resolution :  He's using the old CRT monitor.  1024x768 is it's native resolution, but it works up to 1600x1200.

My Specs:

-Processor: Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz

-Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M

-Memory: 8.1 GB

-OS: Windows 7

According to systemrequirementslab.com (which I know isn't the most reliable source), my computer meets the minimum but not the recommended settings for DA: I.  I'm guessing it won't run DA: I on ultra settings, but I'm wondering how it would fare overall.

Your GPU is actually the desktop equivalent of the GTX 660, while your CPU is a little bit underwhelming but still fine. Depending on your resolution, you're all set for High or Medium/High settings.

Your cousin shouldn't worry too much - medium settings won't me a problem with this, as long as he plays it at 768p.

My Specs:

-Processor:  AMD Phenom II X2 550 3.10ghz

-Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GT640

-Memory: 4 GB

-OS: Windows 7

Not expecting to run it on high or even medium, just need to know if it will run at all or if I'm gonna have to xbox it.

Biggest worry is probably the processor.

Here's someone running BF4 with a 640 at 900p with a CPU only a bit better than yours. He's running with a mix of medium and low settings at over 30 FPS.

Thanks. So...I should be ok on low? I know it's the same engine (and I can run BF4), but the quad -core requirement for DAI has me a bit worried.

In terms for gaming they are all really good. AN i7 and an 870m are excellent mobile GPU's CPU's. The only real differences between the models are stuff like SSD's and possibly GPU ram.

I'd say go with whatever suits your budget best, but pick one of the 780m's with the 6 gigs of video RAM - just for absolute future proofing. SSD or no, that's up to you. I personally can't go back to spindle drives for my primary OS drive SSD's or no way.

Uh... what's a spindle drive?

I assume you mean 870M? Right? So either number 6 or number 8 (the numbers after the GDDR5 is the vram, right?).

6) MSI GT70 2PC-2046NE

http://www.prisjakt....t.php?p=2716795

CPU: intel core i7-4810MQ 2,8 GHz

RAM: 8GB DDR3

Graphic card: GeForce GTX 870M GDDR5 6144 MB

HHD: 1000 GB 7200RPM

SSD: 128 GB

USB total: 5

Price: 1767,27 (currently on sale, original price: 1971,35)

8) MSI GT72 2PC-064NE

http://www.prisjakt....t.php?p=2792327

CPU: intel core i7-4710HQ 2,5 GHz

RAM: 16GB DDR3

Graphic card: GeForce GTX 870M GDDR5 6144 MB

HHD: 1000 GB 7200RPM

SSD: 128 GB

USB total: 6

Price: 1903,32 (currently on sale, original price: 2175,42)

7) MSI GT70 2PE-2057NE

http://www.prisjakt....t.php?p=2716801

CPU: intel core i7-4810MQ 2,8 GHz

RAM: 12 GB DDR3

Graphic card: GeForce GTX 880M GDDR5 4096 MB

HHD: 1000 GB 7200RPM

SSD: 128 GB

USB total: 5

Price: 2039,37

A) The CPU on #6 has 2,8 GHz while #8 has 2,5 GHz. #6 has less RAM  though (8 vs 16 GB). I've heard the RAM isn't that important after 8GB but what about the GHz on the CPU, does it make a difference?

B ) Also, #7 only has 4091 VRAM but it has 12 GB RAM and an 880M graphics card and 2,8 GHz on the CPU. Is it better or worse than #6?

C) Also, what setting would these be able to play DA:I on?

Could someone please answer my follow-up questions? Kinthalis helped me narrow it down and I'm currently leaning towards #6 but the sale only continues until this sunday so I need a reply soon.

7. has the best GPU despite having less VRAM, but it's definitely not so much better that it justifies the higher price. And as you said, you don't need more than 8GB RAM for gaming and casual spare time activities, so you'd basically be paying nearly 300 bucks more for a slightly better GPU.

Go with 6.

I meant 8GB of RAM, not VRAM by the way - have fun with your new gaming laptop! Looks pretty sweet.

I have GeForce GTX 560 Ti (1024 mb dedicated ram), Intel® Core™ i5-3570 3.40 GHz and 8,00 GB ram. I can play Battlefield 4 on Ultra (if I drop the anti analizing a little) with an average fram rate of 30-40 and High with an averege of 50-60. I'm fairly certian that I will be able to play this on High with reasonable good frame rate, but I would like some input on the subject to since I'm not overly confident when it comes to computer specs.

A sidenote on the subject on graphics. I tried to play DA2 last week on very high and got awful fps. Since I can play a lot more demanding games on higher settings it shows how poorly optimized it was for PC. Or that's my take on it at least.

You should be able to play it on low at least, but I'm guessing you could tweak the settings to match medium a bit more and still get god frame rate. Don't take my word for it though, I'm not that good at this either.

Thats funny cuz i have a worse spec (amd athlon II x3, 4gb ram and 660 GTX) i can play DA2 fully on 59-60 fps no issues.

Wierd, but it might just have been something else that led to the framedrop. Don't remember if I had anything running in the backround that could effect it.

I had a question for any of the Devs, now that the game is Gold: What settings are there to reduce the combat FX to something less distractive? Not certain as to the cause, but I seem to have a minor problem viewing the battles with the settings used in some Demo's; seen along with an unstable camera, it can even become a little nauseating for me.

Thank you for any helpful info! :)

There's a camera setting which lets it stay at the angle/position you set it or auto-level to horizon/ground angle when moving, so hopefully using that will help with nausea for you. I suspect when you're driving yourself and not watching someone else it will be less disorienting too.

There's also a graphic setting for (IIRC) spell effects quality or spell postprocess quality, one or two options along those lines (bah can't recall exactly atm), so also hopefully you'll be able to tweak for best comfort!

Thank you! It was the recent Stream demo with the spider battle that caught the attention of my sensory instability, as such spinning re-creates the dizziness I have with my stroke symptoms. And the flashing lights and smoky effects of some FX apparently adds to the problem. I do appreciate the reply.

Hi everyone! I'd like to preorder my copy of DAI in the next few days but I'm not 100% sure my laptop can run it. I checked cyri and apparently the only problem is my graphics memory (32 mb), so it looks like DAI is off-limits for me. The thing is, according to cyri I also wouldn't be able to play Tomb Raider, Skyrim, ME2, ME3, Bioshock: Infinite (among others) for the same reason, but I've been playing them all on this computer without any problem.

So what do you think? Could DAI work as well, despite the low graphics memory?

Here are my specs, just to be sure:

OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz (8CPUs), ~2.2GHz

RAM: 4 GB

Graphics Card: Intel® HD Graphics 4000

Graphics Memory: 32 MB

Hard Drive: 566 GB

DirectX 11

Officially no, you are below minimum specification. But you do have a fairly decent i7 CPU, so you may be able to tweak Frostbite settings like this guy, but bear in mind he has a better CPU, i.e a desktop i7, and probably more RAM. 4 GB and an HD 4000 isn't a good combination. Also we aren't sure what graphics settings are available (could check the PC twitch footage though). If you aren't willing to buy a new computer with a dedicated GPU and you don't need to play on day 1, then you can always try doing the things in the video to get the game playable. FB3 engine is considerably more advanced than Skyrim, Tomb Raider, ME3 etc.

I can't really afford a new computer right now, so I guess I'll have to wait until I know more about the graphic settings for DAI before I buy it. Thanks for the advice!

A. unless you work with some hardcore graphic programs u won´t use RAM above 8, but yea it will make a little of difference.

B. Again, i7 processors are made for demanding work like doing in graphic programs, you´ll be fine even with the i5.

C. Whatever choice you´ll do, you should be albe to run DA on high - ultra settings just fine. Those machines are higher class of gaming notebooks. they are beasts, but I could imagine that there are some better machines in stats like price/performance.

Ah, something more to add up, I bought a Lenvo y510p a year ago, it´s SLI setup of 750m with i7 and 8gig of RAM, I should be fine with games for next 2 years maybe even 3, it´s about 15% worse than any of notebooks that you mentioned in your post...
